Also 300 were placed on the wait list last year. And more than 40 have been accepted off WL recently. You're going off old info Swadianfc.

Yes, it's old info, from the 2006 interview. An extra 100 on the WL and a few more admits is good news but the point is FR does not mean any increase in chances for admission.

But the important part

Concurrent to this review process we also identify about 1400 to 1600 other applications that are very competitive, and these we send to our faculty admissions committee, comprised of 6 faculty and 12 students. Students serve in an advising capacity on the committee. I admit roughly 550 people through what I call the administrative review process, and the admissions committee (the faculty committee) admits about another 200 or so. So, we end up admitting about 700 to 750 people. The admissions committee also structures a waiting list, and then everyone else is denied, either administratively or by the Committee.

So we'll see what this new development brings!

My sense is that during the FR portion your PS plays a significant role -- so if you're happier with that than your numbers this may be your chance to shine.

Got faculty review email today too...UR 12/15. Considered withdrawing, but that felt too snarky. Besides, I paid a fee, I might as well get a decision.

Withdrawing at this point would be pointless. The worst outcome is they reject you, and then you're no worse off than if you withdraw now; therefore there is only benefit to staying in the race until the end.

same here, except 11/4. i guess its time to sound the alarm of impending doom. it's cool though, I'm thinking about throwing a pity party and you're all invited, but to get in, you each need to bring hard drugs and alcohol
