(emphasis supplied.)Dean Hoye wrote:Dear everything_bagel,
I hope you received our recent invitation to apply to Duke Law School through our Priority Track program. I am writing again to update you about a change in the program – the interview will now be an optional part of the scholarship determination process. This change reflects the overall strength of the pool that we are seeing and our desire to keep the admissions process as streamlined and simple as possible for our Priority Track applicants.
What this means for you is that if you are provisionally admitted during the ten-day Priority Track review period, you will be officially admitted to Duke Law School when you complete the next step of our admission process – applying for financial aid and scholarship assistance. As part of the scholarship application process you would have the opportunity to participate in a Skype interview with a member of the committee, if you choose to do so. We hope you would take advantage of the interview because we expect it will provide an excellent opportunity for us to discuss the financial implications of attending law school and to learn how we might be able to help.
The Financial Aid Office will send the scholarship application form to provisionally admitted applicants via email; information about how to schedule an optional interview will be available in November. Those who apply for scholarship consideration will receive their official admission letter and financial aid decision soon after the Scholarship Committee completes its review. (Applicants who are provisionally admitted during the ten-day Priority Track review period and do not wish to apply for scholarship assistance may contact our office so that we can officially admit them at that time.)
If you have questions, please don’t hesitate to write to me. I look forward to reading your application!
...but probably because it was killing the PT goodwill?

Bagel, thanks for the info. That makes sense. Are the people who were originally provisionally accepted being changed from Provisional ——> Full Admit?

Re: Duke Law c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
I think you only get officially admitted when scholarship info comes out in forever, but for practical purposes you're basically admitted now, bc before it was "you're probably going to be admitted" and now it's "you're 100% definitely going to be admitted," you just don't have the official letter or whatever yetToby Ziegler wrote:Bagel, thanks for the info. Has anyone received an official acceptance letter after they sent in their scholarship form?

I was under the impression that the official acceptance would only come with the actual scholarship notification, which will only happen in late winter or early spring after the interviews. could be wrong on that thoughmatlan72 wrote:Has anyone received an official acceptance letter after they sent in their scholarship form?

About when should I expect to see the scholarship "application"? I went complete on 9/15 and accepted on 9/25, but still no further word from Duke. Seems like the super early applicants received the form shortly after their acceptance, but not sure about people who got accepted later?

Re: Duke Law c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 cycle)
Hi all, Duke 1L here.
A word about the "provisional" issue: last year, everyone was "unofficially" accepted until after their scholarship paperwork was complete (unless you chose not to apply for scholarships, in which case you alert them and they officially admit you, I assume).
The wording from the acceptance email last year was "You will be officially admitted to Duke Law School when you complete the next step of our admission process – applying for financial aid and scholarship assistance."
I was accepted as a PT applicant the second week in November and did not receive a financial aid application until December 6th. So be patient with that.
Good to you all! Hopefully some of you will be joining us here in Durham next fall.

A little surprised. Somewhat of a splitter, but not a super splitter by any means. Plus it stings a little because it is so high on my list.. Oh well.xylocarp wrote:sorry dudeWinston1984 wrote:Guess I'm the first to be put on priority reserve.were you expecting it at all (bc of #s, whatever) or is this totally out of the blue?
