Same here. I'm guessing it's a YP thing. Pretty cool that they guarantee you a decision within 2 weeks though.tal18 wrote:Interview request received today.

One stat at their 75th. Other at 50th. Very strong softs. Underrepresented minority. So maybe? Into NYU so they'd have to do some convincing.usernotfound wrote:YP candidate?tal18 wrote:Interview request received today.

Have been lurking for ages, finally decided to log in and post/check in (read: share in the neurotic status checking since I figure it'll be funner to do it with people than alone like I've been doing). Congrats to all who got in! I also got my interview request today. I'm curious - did anyone write a Why Cornell or think the diversity statement was pseudo-mandatory?

No separate Why Cornell. Did do a diversity statement.RGN121999 wrote:Have been lurking for ages, finally decided to log in and post/check in (read: share in the neurotic status checking since I figure it'll be funner to do it with people than alone like I've been doing). Interview request, seems YP related. Didn't do a Why Cornell per se or a DS, but did answer the questions in the app as to who most influenced you and whatever the other one was that asked about interest in attending.
The online interview option sounds weird -- not with a live person, but instead recording video responses to random questions. Am I reading that right?

Really? That sounds hilarious to be honest! When did the folks who got an interview request submit? I applied at the end of October but haven't had so much as a date change of the status checker after going complete.LetsGoMets wrote:The online interview option sounds weird -- not with a live person, but instead recording video responses to random questions. Just looked at the letter again. Not sure if it's okay to post it publicly but there's a sentence that seems to be pretty blunt about this being YP.

Mid-October. I think we're reading that right. I've heard about this from a friend for some other school I think. "Have fun with it!" they say in the email...hereisonehand wrote:Really? They say they've done it for the past 15 years, and the What to Expect thread seems to back that up, but first I'm hearing of it really.Winston1984 wrote:So is this interview something new? I didn't get a request, just curious.

LetsGoMets, you're reading it right, or we're both reading it wrong. I surprised too, but it sounds really neat, especially if it's meant primarily to gauge interest instead of test how you'd do in a job interview (which seems to be the case, if it's for YP). I submitted mid-October also.hereisonehand wrote:Really? That sounds hilarious to be honest! When did the folks who got an interview request submit? Yeah, I've done an interview this way before. It's not too bad, just feels like a cold Skype interview.LetsGoMets wrote:Interview request, seems YP related. Yeah basically questions come up on the screen and you're given a set time to answer. Seems weird as hell. I'd much prefer to do it in person but no way I can miss work or spend that much money on a flight across the country right now.LetsGoMets wrote:Interview request, seems YP related. Anyone have a status date change today? Thoughts on any decisions being sent around 5 today?

Checking in! Got admitted yesterday (complete 10/23, UR 11/26 12/9). Cornell's one of the schools I'm seriously considering. Congrats to everyone and good luck to all!

Interview request today... above both 75th so I suppose it's YP.
But I really, really hate doing video recording interviews - it's so awkward not to be talking live to a real person.
Anyone have any info about the type of questions asked? It seems like it's random from a bank of questions, according to the email.

.
Anyone planning on doing an in-person interview? Any idea what questions they will ask beyond the typical "Why Law" and "Why Cornell"?
