Welp I was sitting here all bummed that I didn't get a scholarship offer. After reading this thread I opened up the acceptance letter and read it again. Hello 108k! Let's hope my attention to detail improves before classes start.
Also I'm hoping for those of you still waiting to hear that you hear back soon! I'm still waiting on about 8 apps and it's nerve racking.

http://management.fortune.cnn.com/2014/ ... SF_F_RiverEmory has expanded its career counseling to match its graduates with available openings, which Spivey praised as "a longer-term effort that will pay larger dividends than schools that take the shorter term route of funding their recent graduates. After 18 months, the funding generally runs out and graduates are left to fend for themselves.

Nope. Gettin' kinda frustrated over here. Emory is 1 of only 2 schools that has yet to get back to me... and it's getting pretty obnoxious. I don't think it was a super great/smart strategy to wait this long to start handing out admissions offers.codyal90 wrote:Has anyone heard anything lately?

Also, interesting info to note. I went back into the archives a couple of years...not because I am obsessed (I am not), but because I was curious to see how last year waiting cycles to play out. Emory tends to accept people with LSATs 165+ or GPA 3.7+ from Feb all the way till the last week of March. Obviously there are exceptions to this, but this is the general trend. They hold everyone else in a kind of limbo. When the last week of March swings around, they dispense a huge list of Wait-lists/Dings/Acceptances when they fill out the bottom half of their class. So if you're in the grey area between 161-164 (like I am), and this year is anything like last year (looking to be the case), expect movement during that last week.

Thanks for the info. Do you know if they accepted many people in the 161-164 range, but with 3.7+ GPAs? Trying to figure out what to expect.doge wrote:Nocodyal90 wrote:Has anyone heard anything lately?

So obviously no promises, but if I were a gambling man I would say that they would probably accept you. If you look at Law school numbers (http://emory.lawschoolnumbers.com/stats/1314) there is practically a right angle curve with students that have 3.7+ gpa being accepted (barring having a 155 or below LSAT score) juxtaposed to students with a 165+ being accepted. Did you apply earlier or later in the cycle?dobie1 wrote:Thanks for the info. Do you know if they accepted many people in the 161-164 range, but with 3.7+ GPAs? I received acceptable packet w/ $ last weekend (saturday I think), if that helps anyone. I applied first week of feb. Without the status checker it's pretty brutal, I had just resigned myself to not hearing until April basically, then it showed up.
Good luck all, hope you guys get good news soon

I hope your prediction rings true, but I applied very late (did not even go complete until 2/19), so I'm definitely worried.doge wrote:

OH, I think you're fine then. Like if you applied last week it be an issue. But they are snapping up 165s like hot cakes generally speaking! Good luck anyway though!dobie1 wrote:I hope your prediction rings true, but I applied very late (did not even go complete until 2/19), so I'm definitely worried.doge wrote:

I was worried because I haven't heard anything since December from Emory, so I called and asked where I was in the process. Do you think calling hurt me? I definitely made sure to preface my remarks with, "I know you don't give admissions decisions over the phone, and I'm not calling for a decision..."

You are fine I think. You aren't the first one to do this and definitely are not the last. I would expect movement by next week though! Keep checking that mail!jacketyellow wrote:I was worried because I haven't heard anything since December from Emory, so I called and asked where I was in the process. Do you think calling hurt me? Yes, that's what the guy told me on the phone. I really hope it's good news because Emory is my TOP choice among all the law schools, which have accepted me.doge wrote:You are fine I think.
