Are you taking it or are you still looking at other schools?

I still feel the credited response for me is retake in June and reapply with a better score which I really feel I think that I can get. that said, w&l is looking veryyyy nice

Just got this today as well and I'm pretty much in the same boat. It's exciting, but I really think I should retake. I just don't feel like doing the applications again, new LORs, new PS, etc.

Congrats on your scholarships, guys! My guess is that even with the stip, there's still quite a bit of bargaining potential with a $35k or $40k scholly. We're lucky that W&L is ranked so high this year (compared to the past three years); it only ups the ante.

But I'm getting giddy here... my W&L status checker says, "Scholarship Award Mailed 01/22/2013," so I'm curious to see what kind of offer I get (if any).

So, I'm assuming that W&L will probably be reaping a better crop of applicants than W&M this year, just based on the differences in the scholarships they're giving similar candidates.

I was looking through the scholarship negotiating thread and it seems BC doesn't negotiate. To be fair, that's one anecdote from 2008, so.... grain of salt.

Thanks, I'm glad you think that! It would actually make my cycle a lot more difficult if they offered me that much. I honestly wasn't expecting any scholly offers when I sent out my applications, so any offer is going to give me a lot to think about.

Has anyone received a scholarship letter denying them money? Their email said you would hear either way and my status checker says they sent me an award letter yesterday! I'm really not expecting much aid anywhere so this would be a great surprise! Given the cheap cost of living in Lexington, they'd be a strong contender if they gave me money!!!

They will write and tell you either way. If they give you $ they'll write how much and all the conditions of the award

Yes, I understand that. My question is if anyone this cycle has received a letter that says they're not being offered merit aid. According to my status checker, there's an aid letter in the mail and I think that might be good news because pragmatically I'd assume bad news letters would arrive later rather than sooner. That could be wishful thinking though.

From my understanding the latters (aid/no aid) come out at the same time and I would guess both are titled the same on the status checker page.
Re getting/not getting aid I'd say that if I got aid, although minimal at 5K/yr, with my numbers(151/3.41 AA URM) anything is possible. Good luck!!
