Re: UCLA c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
it seems like UCLA is offering a lot of money this cycle. It feels like I'm seeing a lot of full rides at 30k/per year. Hopefully this means they will be top heavy, start alienating the middle slice of the cake and will have to scrape the bottom of the barrel to fill out a class. That would be good for Waitlisters like me who have UCLA as their sticker-price top choice.

Anxiously waiting to hear back. I applied to higher ranked schools but UCLA is my top choice.

I just received an e-mail about UCLA's admitted students day. Does anyone know if the school will pay for transportation/ help you find a place to stay, and if so how to go about asking?

I'm pretty sure they give some people stipends. Wouldn't hurt to ask.muskies970 wrote:I just received an e-mail about UCLA's admitted students day. Does anyone know if the school will pay for transportation/ help you find a place to stay, and if so how to go about asking?

Nope. UCLA makes no sense with how they admit/WL/reject.tathagatagarbha wrote:168/3.6

People last year waited 3-4 months before being accepted, some were rejected within 3 weeks of going complete, or even accepted within 2 weeks. It really just depends. Don't read much into it. If they are going to reject you outright, they will.

I heard back yesterday. It's not entirely bad news considering my numbers are extremely low.

I know it's not the best news, but your numbers are pretty light; I'm in the same boat (minus the waitlist). I wish I got wait-listed at UCLA today.

Re: UCLA c/o 2016 Applicants (2012-2013)
Thanks, I agree as well. I still have a shot in this. Some other individuals with much higher numbers than me were rejected from UCLA so they at least somewhat want me. I applied ED so hopefully they take that into consideration when admitting people off the waitlist.CO2016YEAH wrote:I'd call it a win! Probably is a dumb question, but I couldn't find it on their website. Is the merit scholarship guaranteed? Or are there some stipulations, like having to stay in the top 30% every year?

Doesn't the letter say 2.5 GPA? I thought I read that somewhere. I think they curve to a 3.2. Someone would have to correct me if I'm wrong but I think that's what I read.drosth wrote:Probably is a dumb question, but I couldn't find it on their website. Is the merit scholarship guaranteed? Does anyone mind reading a programmatic contribution essay and letting me know that they think? I'm hoping to get involved with the International and Comparative Law Program. PM me, any help would be awesome!

Oh okay. Didn't get the letter yet, so I didn't know they actually specified that information. Thanks!BigZuck wrote:Doesn't the letter say 2.5 GPA? I thought I read that somewhere.
