There is a fair amount of those in the Baylor thread that are going to U of H next year so I can see this having more widespread impact then just Baylor. I knew holding out to withdrawal would pay off in some form but I did not see class action lawsuit being one of the likely outcomes haa

Goodness. This document could stick around for years. Frustrating that there has yet to be an apology or explanation. But understandable because admitting to the violation could put them more at risk.

filling in the fields on this form & pressing "create letter" generates a FERPA form complaint that can easily copied into a word processor, edited, printed and then mailed:

Just FYI, here is some relevant info:

An eligible student may obtain a complaint form by calling (202) 260-3887. For administrative and privacy reasons, we do not discuss individual allegations and cases via email. Please mail completed complaint forms to the Office (address below) for review and any appropriate action.

Complaint Regarding Disclosure

If an eligible student believes that a school has improperly disclosed personally identifiable information from his or her education records to a third party, the student may complete a FERPA complaint form and should include the following specific information: the date or approximate date the alleged disclosure occurred or the date the student learned of the disclosure; the name of the school official who made the disclosure, if that is known; the third party to whom the disclosure was made; and the specific nature of the education records disclosed.

The office is open 8:00-4:00 EST, so they are already closed for the day. I left a message and hopefully they will get back to me tomorrow. I requested that they send me a FERPA complaint form. If things get too weedy and legal I might talk to someone who knows what they are doing (i.e. a lawyer), but I figured I might as well get the ball rolling.

They actually sent it out at 12:40, too, and still no damage control/apology.
