Re: Maryland Applicants c/o 2015
I have discovered a fool-proof way of figuring out if you have been accepted, rejected, or waitlisted: It involves waiting the 5 days for your damn letter to come in the mail and not wasting your damn time being neurotic and flat-out stupid. You have all ben waiting for months for a decision, why are you so intent on expediting the process through nonsensical means now? I can't possibly be the only person here who thinks all these trolls are ridiculous.

Re: Maryland Applicants c/o 2015
I went decision rendered yesterday at about 4pm EST but the date was showing 3/6 not 3/5. I hope that means that I will receive my email or letter today or tomorrow.
Have the people who have been accepted received the email about the ASW early in the day or late in the day. I am guessing my letter will be a rejection.
I have a low LSAT score and super high GPA but I am also a MD resident. Could go either way.

I was accepted into Maryland law last week, it only took them about 3 days to get the letter out to me.

I see no harm in people looking for indicators before the mail arrives. True, they have been waiting a long time, but the recent change is what cultivated the desire to know in advance. It's a fun little tradition in every cycle, and frankly, I like that they're excited. I'd probably enjoy learning alongside this group over the next 3 years.genius5432 wrote:I have discovered a fool-proof way of figuring out if you have been accepted, rejected, or waitlisted: It involves waiting the 5 days for your damn letter to come in the mail and not wasting your damn time being neurotic and flat-out stupid. I wish all of you Maryland hopefuls the best of news in the coming days. But steel yourselves. I would have expected a dollar amount to accompany the decision made update. I hope to be proven wrong there.

I live in Maryland and applied. The residency forms ask if your sole purposes of moving to Maryland was to attend the Law School. I assume, based upon that question alone, that it is rather difficult.Tls2012 wrote:I was accepted into Maryland law last week, it only took them about 3 days to get the letter out to me. Now I am trying to make an extremely difficult decision between attending UMD or Rutgers law with money and instate tuition. Is it true that it is difficult to establish residency in Maryland for your 2nd year?
That being said, I think UMD hands down is the better choice over Rutgers if you are open to practicing in Maryland.

I was at an Open House and the admissions office stated that while it is difficult, it is possible, you just have to know the rules. They said somethnig like you had to be in the state for at least 365 days...not one day less. So as soon as you get to Maryland...establish your residency (get something in your name with a Maryland address) and start counting.Tls2012 wrote:I was accepted into Maryland law last week, it only took them about 3 days to get the letter out to me. That blog's ridiculous. It clearly states that all law schools outside of the top 8 are crappy.pret wrote:Maryland made it to the Thrd Tier Reality blog.
Obviously not everyone can go to one of those schools and obviously there're plenty of successful attorneys that went to schools besides those top 8.
I wouldn't worry about it.

Totally agreed if anything I feel tier 1 schools are still a safe bet if you limit debt and go in knowing the probability of landing big law. Some T2's can be a decent investment if they are a strong regional; but not in saturated markets. So I'd take with a grain of salt. Although I am in line in thinking that our educational system is broken when the cost of tuition inflates higher than the students can afford. Hmm if only the ABA regulate schools like the AMA then the profession would suffer less...wishful thinking I suppose.apslaw1031 wrote:That blog's ridiculous. Re: Maryland Applicants c/o 2015
Question for the ones accepted: I have gone back through every email and every sheet of paper mailed to me by UMD looking for information on the admitted students day. The only thing I see is an ''expect an invitation to our March 31st admitted students day". Have you guys gotten any info on how to sign up? If so, I'll email them tomorrow and let them know I'd like to attend

Has anyone who went DR on 3/5 (3/6) gotten their letter yet?

I went decision made on 3/5 at 4pm EST and I have still not received my letter in the mail yet. I live in MD so I am hoping I will have it in my mailbox today when I get home.

I will update on here as soon as I get home and see if I got the letter in the mail.
Someone else said they think this is another round of acceptances but others were saying that they received an email the same day they went decision made about an admitted students weekend. Others have said that all they have received is a letter stating they were admitted and more to follow.
I am really hoping for an admitted letter because MD is my first choice!!! I am lower on the LSAT median and higher by far on the GPA median so I think it could go either way.

I am curious about what people who went decision made on 3/5-3/6 have as numbers for GPA and LSAT? I am lower on LSAT but higher on GPA than the median so I am not sure what way they are going to decide. Anyone willing to share?

Decision Made: 162/2.7 (strong softs - out of college for 8 years). I feel it could go either way for me.

I've been in review since 2/8.. has anyone else been waiting this long? I'm predicting a waitlist and have already started studying for the June LSAT.

I went into review on 1/25 and I just went decision made on 3/5 at 4pm. I have been waiting forever!!! Well, at least it feels like forever to me.
What are your numbers??? Mind sharing?
Did you go decision made on 3/5?

Re: Maryland Applicants c/o 2015
There's always the rather likely possibility that this is not a "round" of anything but the group of decisions include acceptances, waitlists, and denials, especially since it's so late in the cycle and all the obvious acceptances and denials have been given out.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
