Burgers and Brew is extremely fucking credited. I'm also a big fan of pizza at The Grad.SBL wrote:Congrats to the new admits. Make sure that when you visit you get Burgers and Brew, and sit outside on a nice summer night. That'll be it for HasTTTings.

True, true. It's just that I got into Davis and w&m, and I'm targeting CA and then DC. I got 20k @ w&m. I don't want to make a decision based solely on finances and I really like Davis...so I am praying for some sort of aid.

For out of state I saw 52K with 44K for in-state. The in-state compares to higher ranked private shools. The OOS is in a class by itself. While I've heard they are throwing out some grant aid, who knows what tuition will be next year. In state was 25K 4 years ago. If it keeps the 15% annual increase rate you'll be looking at 58K per year by your 3L year...bk187 wrote:It's the same as pretty much any private law school, isn't it?lhlee wrote:Did anyone receive schools info? Tuition increases do worry me too. Jerry Brown just handed the entire UC system another big cut that they have to figure out. Of course, before the chancellors take a pay cut from their quarter-million dollar salaries and bonuses they'll pass it right onto the student.fogcue2 wrote:For out of state I saw 52K with 44K for in-state. But I mean, there has to be a cap, right? There's no way they'll *keep* adding 15% tuition increases, the camel's back will break...

You would think so, but this is California. I think I've already decided to flee the state. I'll miss the beach, but for what I'll save in rent/housing, I could probably afford a private island in the Pacific. Plus by the time we graduate, California will probably add a $75 application to graduate fee, with a $50 processing fee, a $350 paper degree fee, a $28 application for Graduation Financial Aid Fee, and $175 environmental impact fee for the trees chopped down to make your diploma.Aggiegrad2011 wrote:Tuition increases do worry me too. Best pizza in Davis = Lamppost IMO.bk187 wrote:Burgers and Brew is extremely fucking credited. I'm also a big fan of pizza at The Grad.SBL wrote:Congrats to the new admits. Make sure that when you visit you get Burgers and Brew, and sit outside on a nice summer night. That'll be it for HasTTTings.
But seriously, Davis is the most pleasant, easy-to-live place I've ever lived. It's cheap, safe, clean, fun, and full of really, really great stuff. People who have never been here talk on the boards a lot about how boring it is, but I don't know a single person here who doesn't love this town.

Do Davis students go out Thursday nights for bar review or something like it?

I'm always torn between whether I love Lamppost's garlic sauce pizza or the Grad's bbq chicken pizza more. Overall I'd have to give it to Lamppost but that bbq chicken pizza is phenomenal.SBL wrote:Best pizza in Davis = Lamppost IMO.

ETA: Lamppost is another perk of living in west Davis.

I live on the opposite side of town (near the Nugget on Mace) so they hate delivering to me.bk187 wrote:I'm always torn between whether I love Lamppost's garlic sauce pizza or the Grad's bbq chicken pizza more. I didn't realize they delivered that far. I lived down the street from it and usually just grabbed it myself (unless my roommates and I were feeling particularly lazy).SBL wrote:I live on the opposite side of town (near the Nugget on Mace) so they hate delivering to me.

It's still there. I think it is just okay. I mean they put a lot of toppings but other than that their pizza is mediocre to me and I'm not a fan of their folded over crust either.minky wrote:What about Woodstocks? no dancing from
still in evaluation. I am nearing a whole month's worth of evaluation. It would be so effin mean of them to make me wait soooo much longer than everybody else's evaluation period to only reject me!

Of course. Most of the 1L's I hang out with make an effort to go out several times per week. We have a bi-weekly poker game, King Hall Bowling league, a few of us play golf on the weekends, some of us are snowboarding together, etc... It's a pretty fun environment. It scales back quite a bit once finals get close, but the beginning of each semester is pretty funjwmalone87 wrote:Do Davis students go out Thursday nights for bar review or something like it?

Still awaiting evaluation. At least the 6 pm update keeps me from mashing the F5 button several times per day, a la USC.

It does indeed prevent that, but it also makes it feel like FOREVER until 6pm. Then when i finally check, still that damn same evaluation in progress.
