Although it looks like she was a 'pre-law' major which schools don't care for.

Oh, the irony. I feel like poli sci (one of my majors) is kind of the same thing as pre-law. But I hope it's looked at better?sabenser wrote:Although it looks like she was a 'pre-law' major which schools don't care for.

Any admits get info on the city-specific receptions yet?
Boston's is a week away and I'm wondering if they've already sent out info/times for the receptions...

Did scholarship info come in same packet as admittance letter? I got the letter today - no mention of scholarships...sprewell wrote:my numbers exactly. i got 18/yrjkgott wrote:Was scholarship $$ discussed over the phone? Re: Cardozo 2011
I feel like it's not THAT big of a factor. I mean maybe if you have the same GPA as an engineer/science person, they'll pick that person (with the same LSAT/softs) since it's more unique. I always thought it was funny how advisers tried to scare people from choosing poli-sci majors, since that's really common for law students. But the thing is, when I was 17 I chose it because it was interesting to me. I don't think they'll reject you because you're poli-sci. For the record, that's my major and I was in early. But to answer the original question, I do think it's seen the same as "pre-law" (which I don't think is an actual major at most schools...)Kinderby wrote:Oh, the irony. In with a phone call, got a call from a 1L, and a nearly full scholarship (114k)---depending on the job situation I might visit for their NYC open house.
3.48/164/166
This will make the Fordham/BU/BC/GWU decision so much harder if I get no money from them and if I get in. Also pretty awesome how close it is to the 14th Street PATH and L stations, which means I can live cheaply in Brooklyn, Jersey City or Ironbound in Newark
EDIT: Forgot to say it has a 2.9/top 80% stipulation

WOW, congratulations! That's an awesome scholarship in the first place, and the stipulation is terrific!ballpop wrote:In with a phone call, got a call from a 1L, and a nearly full scholarship (114k)---depending on the job situation I might visit for their NYC open house.

Wow, I'm jealous. I have a 165/3.6 at got 28k. If it was bumped up to 38k, I'd sign, seal and deliver my seat deposit immediately. Congrats to you.ballpop wrote:In with a phone call, got a call from a 1L, and a nearly full scholarship (114k)---depending on the job situation I might visit for their NYC open house.

fwiw, I'm pulling for you Kinderby, because according to your profile we're stats twinsies. LSAC apparently thinks my journalism major sucks because they demoted my GPA from 2.9 to 2.8 when they converted it.Kinderby wrote:Oh, the irony. I'm still in review as of 2/8 (my app was held up though because they had to wait for my undergrad to send a dean's cert.)

Thanks. I got the rejection letter on Saturday, but I don't think I could've afforded it, anyway. Good luck to you! And how does LSAC convert GPA? I don't know what mine would be.Lawst wrote:fwiw, I'm pulling for you Kinderby, because according to your profile we're stats twinsies. Hi whats the general feeling among the students about the economy? Are people who got $$$ happy they chose it over a higher ranked school?

Re: Cardozo 2011
It depends on your UG school and your major - it should show on your LSAC account. I forget what it's under. Transcripts, I think. Sorry to hear you were dinged. Dozo gave me a fee waiver, and I couldn't figure out if it was because they really saw me as a good applicant or just wanted to have more people to reject so they look more selective. We'll see. I'm still UR.Kinderby wrote:Thanks. I got the rejection letter on Saturday, but I don't think I could've afforded it, anyway. Good luck to you! And how does LSAC convert GPA? Re: Cardozo 2011
Is it worth attending Cardozo at sticker? What kind of job can someone realistically expect at median? Can someone who was accepted to part time change to full time (before the 1rst semester begins I'm talking about)? How much different are the part-time schedules from full-time? Is there a significant difference between the 2 programs?evilgenius wrote:Cardozo 1L here, feel free to shoot questions.

Re: Cardozo 2011
Students dont seem too worried about the economy. The 3L's do seem worried are the ones that want to practice outside of the NY metro area. They seem to be having a harder time.JD=Doctor wrote:evilgenius wrote:Cardozo 1L here, feel free to shoot questions.

Most students (including myself) that got money seem happy that they chose Cardozo, if for no other reason because theyre saving up to $50K this year. But, those that have stipulations on their $ seem a bit stressed.

Re: Cardozo 2011
Can you talk about possible reasons to choose Cardozo over Brooklyn? For the sake of this discussion let's assume the money is equal. I like Cardozo a lot, and its location is certainly awesome, but Brooklyn's long established history and corresponding alumni base are attractive to me.
Also, Brooklyn seems to have one of the best housing situations in the nation; I like the idea of living close (walking distance) to campus for practical reasons, do students who choose to live close by struggle with the cost given that Cardozo seems to have limited subsidized housing options?

Re: Cardozo 2011
Unless you're certain that you'll find a job post graduation, I don't think its worth attending any law school (aside from a T5) at sticker. At median, one can expect a job at a small or mid-sized firm, a non-profit (like Legal Aid), or in local gov't.lawfreak wrote:Is it worth attending Cardozo at sticker? I'm guessing by part time you mean the May program? If so, you can expect a grueling summer. May students are in class all day, every day, for almost three months. During the summer they take Contracts I & II, Criminal Law, and Elements of Law. Once the fall begins, the part time students get integrated with the incoming 1L's, but take fewer classes. During the fall they take Legal Writing I, Torts, and Civil Procedure. During the spring they take Property, Constitutional Law, and Legal Writing II.
The difference is significant in my opinion. After the summer PT students have an advantage over the full time 1L's because they are used to taking law school exams, briefing cases, etc. They also have a smaller course load which = less reading and more time to study. Some May students take advantage of this and get better grades. But most don't
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
