Hello, checking in. 3.4/168 and my apps went in late December/early January... also, fudged my numbers a bit until the end of the cycle.

Applied to Chicago at the urging of my current employer who thought I might stand a chance (but I remain seriously pessimistic) and threw in apps to NU, Vandy, and UCLA with fee waivers (figured why not).

Man, sorry about UW- I know you really wanted that one. What are your plans now? No shame in taking the money at WUSTL, or in reapplying next year. Dunno why, but this cycle seems to be particularly tough on splitters.

Not for every splitter. I think this cycle will be neutral/good for splitters as the decrease in test takers has to have SOME effect on admissions.

Ah, don't let it get you down. That LSAT alone says a lot about your intelligence and ambition, and if these schools don't want in on that... then fuck em.

And I'm not sure about W&L (didn't apply), but I can assure you that your Minnesota WL is definitely YP. They did the same thing to me, and to everyone else who scored in the 170s.

But keep us posted on what you decide. I'm a St. Louis native (and current resident) and can attest to the awesomeness of WUSTL. They're definitely making aggressive moves to boost their national placement and reputation, and I gotta believe they'd give you at least some shot of getting back to Seattle (or the PNW) with connections and a little bit of legwork. Also, their campus is phenomenal, and St. Louis is actually a pretty cool city.

Good luck with whatever you decide, and don't let a few tough results take you out of the game.

Thanks for your kind words. Also, thank for your appraisal of St. Louis; I've never been there and I'm hesitant to move that far to a new city for school. But it is something I'll have to consider. It is undoubtedly a first-rate school.

I second Beachbum's thoughts; you're more than qualified. Even your GPA is not that low (given your LSAT score). These adcoms are asinine for rejecting/wl'ing you. That being said, WUSTL is an excellent school, and with your performance on the LSAT, you should be confident of excelling beyond your peers as a law student.

adjudicator--it's not too late to send some more apps out. L&C deadline is march 1. As is hastings. Denver doesn't have a deadline (and I got 20k/year there), and Colorado is March 15. You might not be interested in any of these schools, but I think it could still be worth sending out apps. Some schools might jump on a high LSAT last minute to get their numbers up.

I can only hope that the LSAT is such a predictive factor. I've heard the statistics showing that it may be the strongest individual factor, but yet it is not itself very strong.

I do believe that wherever I end up going to school, I'm going to crush it. I've always believed that. But there are no guarantees.

I feel, for the most part, that this cycle has been harsher towards splitters than cycles past. This coming from too much time wasted stalking past years splitter threads, of course Most of the time, you have your smattering of "really bad cycles" and "really good cycles" with most people landing in neutral. This year, it seems there are some really bad cycles and some neutral cycles, but that's about it.

The decrease may have just affected the low end of LSAT test takers to begin with.

I'm not an extreme splitter like Adjudicator, but I feel pretty good about my cycle (3.49/172): into Penn (very surprised), GULC, Cornell, Texas (thought GPA and OOS would keep me out). WL at UVA, UCLA.

I guess I'm more neutral.
