I'm glad you're still waiting too... At least everyone won't abandon this thread and I can still have someone to lean on/vent to.Dex wrote:Exact same for me here.shanshan333 wrote:I didn't go UCR until 12/6, 12/7 so I'm holding out hope for Friday.. Then I will probably give up/sob.

I haven't even gone UCR yet. Im not sure whats going to happen though, I'm retaking in Dec, which i informed Penn about even though I already sent in my ED agreement. Am i going to be considered ED or RD?shanshan333 wrote:I'm glad you're still waiting too... Re: Penn ED Waiting Thread
If you're taking the LSAT again in December that could definitely be the reason that you're not UCR. You may want to call them and ask if they are holding your file and whether you will still be considered ED.oreo3405 wrote:I haven't even gone UCR yet. do we have realistic chances....are we still ED?
should we be EDing elsewhere?

If you are held over to the Regular Decision pool then you are no longer bound to your ED contract. I.E. if you are accepted in February you no longer are required to withdraw from other schools and attend Penn.justadude55 wrote:@held people:

As to your chances - who know? If you're set on breaking the top 10, and don't have numbers for Michigan, I'd look into switching your UVA app to ED. Personally I'd rather risk a WL/WL (Penn/UVA), then find out I got into Penns RD pool but couldn't attend because I was accepted to UVA ED.

Re: Penn ED Waiting Thread
Question: For people who were held for RD does it specifically say that in the email? Mine says they want me to update them with fall grades before they make a final decision. Is this different?

I'm 11/23 and 11/29 and haven't heard a peep either. Hopefully what we're seeing is them working forward through the dates.amkid100 wrote:really? i went UCR 11/23, 11/29. idk why I haven't heard yet. good luck!shanshan333 wrote:I didn't go UCR until 12/6, 12/7 so I'm holding out hope for Friday.. Just email and ask. That sounds pretty vague.Mike12188 wrote:Question: For people who were held for RD does it specifically say that in the email? Mine says they want me to update them with fall grades before they make a final decision. Is this different?

Yeah, I'm hoping that too.. though that's not exactly a sign that there's hope as all of the earlier applicants may have taken all of the ED spots ;/. I'm wondering if they didn't also do it by last name as mine appears much earlier in the alphabet then some of the people that were admitted.Jage2 wrote:I'm 11/23 and 11/29 and haven't heard a peep either. Re: Penn ED Waiting Thread
Considering you just went under UCR, you probably have some waiting to do. They probably haven't given your file that thorough of a read at this point. The bad news: waiting sucks. The good news: you're in the running until the end. The best news: Penn seems very kind to reverse-splitter ED candidates thus far. You have a great shot!shanshan333 wrote:Yeah, I'm hoping that too.. though that's not exactly a sign that there's hope as all of the earlier applicants may have taken all of the ED spots ;/. no, exact same...but does this mean we're not "waitlisted", that we'll hear back soon. it says before april. this is annoying because obviously i love penn, but i do not want to be stuck all the way down the ladder when i could have still gotten a t-14.Mike12188 wrote:Question: For people who were held for RD does it specifically say that in the email? Re: Penn ED Waiting Thread
There is a difference between the "Held" emails and the grade request emails FWIW
For those people who were "Held" I'm assuming this is the email you got:
For those people who were "Held" I'm assuming this is the email you got:
Thank you for your application to the University of Pennsylvania Law School. The Admissions Committee has completed its preliminary review of your application and has decided to hold your file for further review.
The admissions process at Penn Law is a deliberative process. Every file is read by numerous members of the Admissions Committee. As of this date, your file has been reviewed by at least two members of the Committee and we are impressed with your credentials. We are continuing our review of your file however, and thus have not yet rendered a decision.
Please feel free to submit additional supporting documents, such as one additional letter of recommendation, an updated resume, or an additional two page essay on the topic of your choice. This additional letter of recommendation must be submitted through LSAC if you have not yet submitted the maximum of four letters to us through LSAC. You may submit the other materials, including a fifth letter of recommendation, by email to contactadmissions@law.upenn.edu (preferred method) or by fax to (215) 898-9606. If you are currently in undergraduate or graduate school, please submit to LSAC an updated transcript with your most recent grades as soon as it is available. Please do not send updated transcripts directly to our office. Upon receipt of your transcript, LSAC will automatically send us an updated report.
Our goal is to have all decisions made by the end of April, although most applicants will hear much sooner. Please know that the time it has taken to review your file in no way indicates the final decision. Again, the review process at Penn involves multiple members of the Admissions Committee reviewing each of our 6,200 applications; you can be assured your application materials are receiving a thorough review.
Thank you for your patience during this time and best wishes in the coming months.

I'm sure you'll still have a good cycle ahead of you! Your numbers are competitive for a few T30s.
