Ah, just saw these. I believe I addressed it to the Faculty Admission Committee, and I just sent it to the admissions@... email address. They sent me back a generic "we got your email" email. I followed up just to check that they really got it, and they told me that the generic email was all they send, and I was all set.exdubliner wrote:Who did you address the LOCI to? Not Dean Tom I'm assuming since he's already passed it along. "Admissions Officer" or "Faculty Review Committee"?radgrad wrote:You're allowed to send LOCI's if you're under FR. Not sure if it helps at all, but I did it. (And I got in.)julesm2200 wrote:Also moved into FR yesterday. Not really sure what this means. other than more waiting.
Hope this helps!

Is anyone else constantly thinking about FR? I spend all day wondering what it would be like if I actually got in and wondering what the FRC is doing or if they've gotten to my application yet. I think I'm going to go crazy before March 12th gets here! I think it's mainly because I never even expected to make it to FR, so now I've got my hopes up and even though I try to stop thinking about it I can't! I can't even sleep really...

Haha welcome to the club, Berk is my far and away top choice and I've been like that for 2 months.hellokitty wrote:Is anyone else constantly thinking about FR? I was... but then I checked out LSN and realized they really were going to get back to me on/around the date they had given me in the FR email. Then I could relax and stop worrying about checking email/voicemail/status checker every day. Let it go - because it will just be what it is. And they WILL get back to you on/around that March date. Take a step forward, take a step back, and now you're Cha-Cha-ing!!!hellokitty wrote:Is anyone else constantly thinking about FR? Anyone else in the same boat?

And remember your chances increased slightly with FR - so good luck!

Thanks Orphanarium!
I really believe it helps to stay positive in this whole process. We're all amazing applicants for our own reasons - and there is a 'fit' for us. Sometimes adcomms know better than we do (thank you UVA for the ED ding!!!). Dodged a bullet there. So just remember that if it doesn't happen for you, you are going to love *your* school, meet incredible people, make great lifelong friends, and have a standout education at a T1 no matter where you send your SIR.

Berk is my fit.gymboree wrote:and there is a 'fit' for us

I wish I could sleep and wake up on March 12. I'm going insane. This one decision changes my cycle entirely... If I get the nod, it's all over. If I don't, I'm likely taking the LSAT in June to get off of the inevitable CCN waitlists and no matter where I end up I'll be settling for a school that doesn't fit me nearly as well as Berk.

given that they started reviewing the FR apps on Feb 19th and decisions are likely to be made March 11 or so, what do people think about an LOCI at this point? is it still appropriate to send one? and if so, is email ok given the tight timeframe?

Wondering the same myself. Although I don't know if sending one would help in my case since I haven't exactly been doing anything.runnerman wrote:given that they started reviewing the FR apps on Feb 19th and decisions are likely to be made March 11 or so, what do people think about an LOCI at this point? is it still appropriate to send one? and if so, is email ok given the tight timeframe?

Did anyone send an LOCI or other material to their email, admissions@berkeley...?
Since time is running out on the FR review period, I sent one yesterday by email and got an immediate autoreply with instructions on how to send them info/fill out apps/etc., but no confirmation email saying "thanks we got your letter and will add it to your file." For those who have submitted stuff electronically, is this what's happened for you as well?

People have said before, I think, that they called and the Admissions Office said if they got the auto-reply that the new info had been added to their file and they were set. I got the auto-reply; however, my boyfriend got a "thanks for your update" email. I don't think this is customary though. I'm considering calling to check, but I don't want to seem neurotic.runnerman wrote:runnerman wrote:given that they started reviewing the FR apps on Feb 19th and decisions are likely to be made March 11 or so, what do people think about an LOCI at this point? is it still appropriate to send one? and if so, is email ok given the tight timeframe?

I'm lukewarm on the LOCI thing in general. Especially if sent before a decision has even been rendered. It seems superfluous and redundant. Kind of like an over-needy significant other. If I were in an admissions office, I'd find it annoying. That might just be me though - perhaps it's a brilliant strategic move that I'm missing out on. Maybe patient, quiet waiters like me ultimately get the shaft. That would suck.

Re: Berkeley Faculty Review Support Group 2010
Berkeley seems to be cautious with their waitlist and keeps it small compared to other schools. Tons of people got rejected after the 1st FR, so there's a high probability that this is our last chance to state our case. If you actually have something to say (i/e getting published in a journal / significant GPA rise / etc.) since applying many months ago, which is likely, and you really want to go to Berkeley, I think you've got nothing to lose with a LOCI.. but that's just my opinion.AdmiralNelson wrote:I'm lukewarm on the LOCI thing in general. Yeah, that's totally fair. If it does indeed have a positive correlation with admission rates, then I'll be the one left kicking myself. Good luck everyone...xokel87 wrote:Berkeley seems to be cautious with their waitlist and keeps it small compared to other schools. Idk if I can wait another week. I'm definitely losing it. This is much worse than waiting for LSAT scores. There isn't even a comparison. It's like we're so close, yet so far away. *sigh*

I'm having the opposite reaction. I think ignorance is bliss. Also, I'm afraid of a huge dream of mine dying in a week. The pessimism is sinking in...hellokitty wrote:Idk if I can wait another week. I kind of feel the same way. Idk how I even made it to FR with my LSAT score. I feel like they only did it just to get my hopes up and then crush them. But at the same time, I want to move on with my life. I've been dreaming about Boalt for years and I just want closure.sandiecohen47 wrote:I'm having the opposite reaction. You sound like a Miss. America acceptance speech lol...good luck...waiting stinks but its better than the certainty of a rejection.hellokitty wrote:I kind of feel the same way.
