Re: Penn c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Still 1/23... forever alone.
Not to post about it for the 4th time, except that I'm going to, but why on earth am I still under review?! Shouldn't they know by now if they want to reject me or not?
gah!

Considering it's March 21st, you still have 10 days

Yes, but the email said "You will bear by April, although most candidates hear much sooner" I got this email on 12/12, was reviewed again afterwards and still have no news! I figured "much sooner" might apply in my case, seeing as I applied in September! I'm just looking to be dinged already!

Re: Penn c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Hey guys, I've been reading the past posts in this thread and wondering about the Why Penn essay since I couldn't remember having that essay questioned in the lsac penn law application. To those who submitted that, did you submit it via email? And when (after UR1/UR2)? Is it just one page or two? Penn's one of my top choice schools and my file has been sitting under UR 1 3/11. Is it too early to do that? I'd appreciate if anyone would enlighten me re this matter. Thanks!

Why Penn essay was one of many optional essays listed on LSAC. It's one page. I would assume the vast majority of applicants submitted it with everything else. Somebody else can answer the rest of your questions because I'm not sure about whether or not submitting one now is the way to go.

It would have been easy to overlook because it wasn't exactly worded as Why Penn. IIRC it was something about Dean Fitts and how your strengths line up with Penn's or something like that.mynameis08 wrote:logicspeaks wrote:Why Penn essay was one of many optional essays listed on LSAC. UR2 3/10, thought the turnaround from UR2 to decision was supposed to be fast?

So I don't understand what's going on with my application at Penn. I've gotten into schools ranked above Penn and schools ranked below. And yet, I have heard nothing from them since going UR2 2/17. I feel like maybe 2/17 people got stuck with a slow reviewer or something.

I have also been UR for over a month. I bet its because they're waiting for a bunch of full scholly people to withdraw so they can give them to us. Right? This is the only explanation I wish to hear, therefore it is the truth.

+1 2/17 UR2. I'm hoping we just have a thorough reviewer or something but I feel like they moved us to UR2 then lost our files behind their deskadmiringatticus wrote:So I don't understand what's going on with my application at Penn. Anyone else thinking about withdrawing since we clearly aren't hearing back in time to make it to the ASW? I'm concerned that I won't be able to make an informed decision without it (and I can't make it to the April 7 Penn Preview Day either).
I'm also just really annoyed at Penn for not getting back to me since I've been UR2 since 2/4, and I applied in November...

I seriously considered withdrawing, at this point there is a slim to zero chance that i'll be attending Penn even if I do get in because i've already gotten in to schools that I like better.tlsapp2017 wrote:Anyone else thinking about withdrawing since we clearly aren't hearing back in time to make it to the ASW? But I figured I might as well ride it out, it won't do me any good to withdraw, and at this point, waiting longer doesn't really do me any harm. On the off chance that I get in with money, I can use it as leverage to negotiate with other schools.
I feel you though, I'm really annoyed with Penn and their shenanigans too.

Re: Penn c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
I guess that makes sense re: scholarships. For me personally I doubt it would matter much since CCN seem to mostly negotiate amongst themselves for aid and I already have a significant scholly offer at one of those schools (haven't heard about aid for Columbia yet - they seem to be a little behind on the whole process), but you're right that it does make sense to wait at this point. I'm just really annoyed at them, particularly because I would have seriously considered Penn over higher ranked schools if I had the chance to go visit and actually check it out. I guess Penn still could convince me with a significant scholarship offer, but I'm not holding my breath over it (or an acceptance at all, for that matter - expecting the WL at this point); or they could accept me before this weekend (tomorrow?) and I can quickly book a train ticketmilkandcheerios wrote:I seriously considered withdrawing, at this point there is a slim to zero chance that i'll be attending Penn even if I do get in because i've already gotten in to schools that I like better.tlsapp2017 wrote:Anyone else thinking about withdrawing since we clearly aren't hearing back in time to make it to the ASW?
