i personally like bioshock 2 better than mass effect 2, but since harvard has been stringing me along for months now i bought call of duty since it is more addictive and let's me detach myself from time and reality more easily

I don't see much motivation for HLS to increase its numbers, either. If they really wanted to make a run at Yale for No. 1, they'd just cut the class size down to 400.

i don't think HLS will every decrease class size. The institutional philosophy and style seems to keep that as one of its defining features. Quote from Wikipedia:

"The school maintained a relatively uncompetitive admissions process, but "weeded out" a large number of first year students. This gave rise to the infamous legend of a dean at the school telling incoming students, "Look to your left, look to your right, because one of you won't be here by the end of the year."

obviously HLS is not quite like that anymore (everyone graduates nowadays), but i imagine that type of philosophy is still there. IMO if you make it to the top of Harvard, it is much more impressive than the top of Yale due to the intense competition.

sometimes i wish harvard was something more like the stuff we hear about in the book 1L and that legend you just mentioned, not that i am a glutton for punishment, i just want to experience something as hardcore as that

i will....the question is which strategy is best? stalking him until i know his daily routine and then 'accidentally' running into him? moving in next door and then freqeuntly needing to borrow a cup of sugar? sidling up to him a cambridge bar? subliminal messages? bain-eqsue powerpoint? twitter?

wow i can see it as a movie already. the character everyone likes, (but clearly is not the protagonist) standing out in Harvard Square during the Boston fall so autumn leaves are dancing past him during a gust of wind, while he holds an open cardboard box of his possessions, wearing nothing more than a large grey pea coat and a look of dejection as HLS competition has caused him to wash out

hm, that would be pretty awesome

ok, i love the mass effect + mass effect 2 series, but not so much bioshock. do you like FPS or more action RPG? the combat in ME2 is similar to gears of war, but add a much more robust storyline, nice graphics, amazing voice-acted dialogue and storytelling. if you arent into action RPG from a third person shooter point of view, but are a fan of FPS w/ cool weapons and spells, bioshock 2 may be the better choice.

personally, i like the second more than the first -- better combat feel, more engaging dialogue and great voice-acting

they also simplified the whole item/armor thing, which at first felt like they stripped the game of a lot of customization and complexity, but after some time, i realized it was just different (in a good way i guess)

only thing ME1 has superior over ME2 is a better story -- but i mean, the middle child of any trilogy is always lacking in "story" when compared to the beginning or the end

note: yeah ME series is not much "Strategy" tho haha

I don't know, ME2 was better overall. But the story just didn't feel as compelling (Oooh the collectors took a few tiny human colonies that were out in the boonies anyway) compared to the epic feel of the first game where you saved all organic life in a battle that ended with epic space warfare between massive fleets. I also don't know how I feel about the greater fragmentation of missions. It's nice to be able to sit down for 30 minutes and actually complete a mission, but aside from maybe Omega and the Asari world it was all too forgettable when you spend less than an hour doing major story missions.

The RPG elements were a downgrade too IMO. I was sad that the it went from "Hundreds of guns! Thousands of different customizations for weapons and armor!" to "Here's 2 guns, you'll be using one for 70% of the game, no you can't customize it". Sure the RPG system in the first game was clunky, but that's no excuse to strip it out entirely. The cooldown system was annoying too, you pretty much ended up spamming your best ability in every fight because of shared cooldowns you could never "combo" your own skills. I know there are teammates for this but I hated having to choose between micro'ing them every fight to use their abilities or letting them use it automatically but never having them available for coordinated assaults on a heavy target. The rest of the game was a great improvement that outweighed the cons in my mind.

So yea I beat ME2 and it's on to Bioshock 2, the multiplayer is shamefully laggy, but the fact that you unlock a new weapon/plasmid/ability every level makes it addicting.

Oh and uhh I guess it's another day without JR1s >_>

why? it was a great breakdown - i agree 100% w/ ALL of sogui's points, he hit them all on the spot, and i happened to have thought of the same exact pros/cons
