I checked my status checker, went to their site, waltzed around. Dno what do you want me to do, specifically?

It is really nice on campus today.

I suspect that it will be hard for the admissions staff to stay indoors and look over applications. But it is New England, so I assume bad weather will return shortly giving the adcom staff plenty of time to determine how to shape out the incoming class.

Sicsofs wrote:So I am new to the admission process, can someone explain the WL process. I am held so there is still hope but if i get WL'd and decide to ride the WL, does it eventually officially turn in to a rejection if you don't make it or does it just drop off after school starts?
I was waitlist -> admitted last year, so I can answer! You get an e-mail like this (mine came on 16 April last year):

"If you are able and interested in accepting an offer of admission from Harvard Law School over the summer, you should remain on the wait-list. No action is required to do so. If at any time you decide that you do not wish to remain on the wait list, please contact us immediately so that we can remove you from the list and avoiding delaying the admission of another candidate.

If you have any relevant, new information, which is not part of your application to date, we invite you to send this information to the Admissions Office. For example, if you have been enrolled in an academic program, you may wish to provide a final transcript to LSAC."

They make a point of not offering any statistics on how many get in off the waitlist each year; my guess is that it varies so wildly from year to year that the statistics would be pointless.

Over the summer, sporadically, the admissions office will e-mail portions of the waitlist telling them they are no longer under consideration, and others will simply get no e-mails at all until the end. The final "you are no longer on the waitlist" e-mails cruelly come at the end of August; last year's thread probably can give you a more precise idea of when those come out.

That said though, I hope those of you who really want HLS won't have to worry about the waitlist. If you do get WLed, think about the decision of whether to stay on it long and hard. I volunteer my shoulder to cry on should it come to that, but let's hope it doesn't :D

Anyone have any guesses about how many of us are still waiting, hold or no hold, JR1 or not?

Bring it. That'd be one less "Take me off your WL/Hold list" email I'd have to write.
