Held as well.
Does anyone know what's the best email address to send a LOCI for Columbia? The letter mentions Ms Flores, but I believe that's only for withdrawal.
Thanks in advance for your help.

i am not sure. i suppose this takes me out of consideration for the "real" merit scholarships, but people have also mentioned that columbia sometimes does stealth merit scholarships as part of the need-based financial aid. CLS is a good school and a sweet enough financial deal could persuade me.booboo wrote:Thoughts on what you will do next englawyer?englawyer wrote:btw i am held 2/9 at Columbia as well.
i might go for the LOCI

Re: Columbia 2010
I just got my "hold" letter today as well. Honestly, I'm kind of pumped about it. Columbia and Chicago are tied as my first choice right now. When I saw the letter not being vomit-colored, I felt my heart would break.
I got rejected from Harvard and Michigan on Monday, then wait-listed at UVA, so this is actually the best bit of news that I've gotten in my cycle yet. Just to know that they've deemed me worthy of serious consideration breathes new life into my campaign of terror on the T14.
Please let me in, Columbia. We could be so great together...

Held. And the fact that LSN only lists two people from last cycle as being waitlisted then accepted it's not too encouraging.

But unless people on LSN are misusing the term, waitlist is not the same thing as hold.MF248 wrote:Held. And the fact that LSN only lists two people from last cycle as being waitlisted then accepted it's not too encouraging.

Held, letter arrived today in Austin. Not too bad, even if it is my 4th hold.

I got held today too. It looks like the schools I sent this one LOR to are acting weird, first Michigan now this. I sent that letter to Yale too..... We don’t have a puking smiley face, but I would put it here if we did. Schools I didn't send it to have accepted me rather quickly. Pretty sure it is the LOR at this point. Glad I only sent it to three schools.
Also, I have a full ride that requires a deposit in early May, anything I can do about this? I think it would be in bad form to send in a deposit then withdraw if and when Columbia gets back to me… And if I send the deposit does that make me obligated to go there and would Columbia know I had to pay a depost?

I thought the point of the deposit was that losing the deposit was your punishment for withdrawing. It's pretty normal for a student to give a deposit and then stay on a waitlist for their dream school all summer just in case.Kakarot wrote:I got held today too. Reserve is waitlist. Sorry.MSPeast wrote:Is "Reserve" the same as a hold, or is it a waitlist? And do they really not look at those until May? Pretty risky...

Nothing in the mail in California. I fly to DC on the red-eye tonight and will be gone until Wednesday, too.

I think we need to start betting on how long it takes for Columbia to admit you after realizing they have your LOCI.BaiAilian2013 wrote:Held.Hoping that Coal is right and this is smart YP. LOCI time!

Parents got nothing in the mail today except for a rejection from Michigan. I think I just made it pretty clear from my Michigan app that I didn't actually want to attend. Still a little jarring though. It would be nice to have an acceptance from a T6 school, or any T14.

Re: Columbia 2010
I am thinking there is a complete date, before which people (who have attractive numbers to Columbia) received a held letter. The real question is when is the next wave going to begin, as the few admittances in the first week of February is obviously not one.CoaltoNewCastle wrote:Parents got nothing in the mail today except for a rejection from Michigan.
