Was everyone who received the "send a LOCI" email already held?

The email I got discusses holds being under review now, so I would assume so.mikeylikesit wrote:Was everyone who received the "send a LOCI" email already held?

FWIW, I was never held. Submitted in Oct, went complete 11/10, got an email with an acceptance letter attached from Columbia today. URM.

Really hoping hold + no email means decision already made, rather than, not Columbia's first choice

that's true, but my assumption would be that unless that have already made some decisions, the people with emails are their first tierMr. Somebody wrote:+1 but emails could be rollingJamMasterJ wrote:Really hoping hold + no email means decision already made, rather than, not Columbia's first choice

I don't think CLS YPs. That said, I think that at this point they really want to admit people with a strong desire to attend, because this late in the game, they need high yield so that they can get the right number in the class and so they can maintain both mediansGeneva wrote:do u think anyone on hold is there bc of yield protection? some people have awfully strong numbersJamMasterJ wrote:that's true, but my assumption would be that unless that have already made some decisions, the people with emails are their first tierMr. Somebody wrote:+1 but emails could be rollingJamMasterJ wrote:Really hoping hold + no email means decision already made, rather than, not Columbia's first choice

so hold status is for more borderline candidates, then? just trying to figure out a rationale here. also, if there is a "first tier hold" category (which i kinda doubt just given the amount of tlsers that already mentioned a recent email), how much of that group do u think they want to take (assuming most ppl send in locis)?

Yeah I was about to say NYU has a pretty high acceptance rate to YP but some of those Uchi waitlists were CRAZY. Although they do have a smaller class.potl wrote:Mr. Somebody wrote:If.cls is yping me they are making.a horrible mistake lol

Were you waitlisted there? I feel like WL makes sense for YP people, but don't get the logic of rejecting stronger applicants.Mr. Somebody wrote:Yes they do. thoughts/theories? also, any chance of columbia matching need-based aid from hsy? what is a butler scholarship?Geneva wrote:so hold status is for more borderline candidates, then? just trying to figure out a rationale here. also, if there is a "first tier hold" category (which i kinda doubt just given the amount of tlsers that already mentioned a recent email), how much of that group do u think they want to take (assuming most ppl send in locis)?

I got the email to send a LOCI yesterday, was previously held. I'm 99% sure I'm just going to withdraw anyways, but thought I'd add in that I also got the email for those who are trying to speculate or collect stats on the matter - good luck, guys!
