Can pre-decision LOCIs at this point hurt? I worry new material might delay application decisions.

Aren't LOCIs supposed to be different from Why X essays? But I guess I can include a little bit of Why NYU (1-2 paragraphs) in my LOCI. Now I am already working on the LOCI, since I have not heard back. And if I have any chance of getting into NYU, it would be through getting off the waitlist. Yeah, a LOCI is not just "Why X," it's also saying why you're a good choice and can also give some positive updates on your current situation (e.g. work, volunteering, etc). This is a good thread on how to write a LOCI. There are more examples posted in other pages of the topic.melmelcoolj wrote: Aren't LOCIs supposed to be different from Why X essays? Hmm, didn't know that New York requires 50 hrs of pro bono work prior to admission for the bar. http://www.nycourts.gov/attorneys/probo ... 520_16.pdf
50 hrs is not much, but good to know.

If you still haven't heard back, my strong guess is that you are going to be waitlisted soon. Assuming that's the case, save your LOIs for after you get waitlisted. They'll be more effective that way

True. I have been writing "Why NYU" for the waitlist purgatory. And I can use the excuse to send in another LOCI in two weeks or so.RParadela wrote:If you still haven't heard back, my strong guess is that you are going to be waitlisted soon. Just Withdrew. If I'm being honest with myself, even if they accepted me at this point they would never offer me enough money to make it feasible. I'd rather let them go "it's not you, it's me" style than wait around another month just to be WL
I explicitly stated in my email that if they were planning on accepting me, my spot should be reserved for you bb

Thanks for this advice! Are you going off info from previous years when you're writing about WL?RParadela wrote:If you still haven't heard back, my strong guess is that you are going to be waitlisted soon.
