Yeah, I was pretty up front with them about that and said I can't do anything to make their score go up, but that I would meet with them once or twice if they really wanted to. They said they've been reading a prep book, it doesn't sound like they've even taken a practice test.
Sounds like you did what you can, also just set yourself up so they're prepared to come back to you after they get their (presumably undesirable) October scores back.
