Well we absolutely have to hear before April 25th (That was the date on the letter right?) so unless they admit/reject us all in one big wave, hopefully some might start hearing in mid-april?teenybean wrote:When I talked to them over the phone they said that pretty much everyone who was held would find out in late April. That's gonna present problems with some schools' deposit deadlines. They held so many people that I think it's probably best to think of it as a waitlist and given how little Columbias waitlist moves, it's gonna be a ding for most of us :/Jessasaurus wrote:Well we absolutely have to hear before April 25th (That was the date on the letter right?) so unless they admit/reject us all in one big wave, hopefully some might start hearing in mid-april?teenybean wrote:When I talked to them over the phone they said that pretty much everyone who was held would find out in late April. Maybe they really meant by late April, meaning that people could hear sooner? Fingers crossed for you guys!teenybean wrote:When I talked to them over the phone they said that pretty much everyone who was held would find out in late April. Maybe they're just keeping our expectations low though?
eta: I say "you guys," but realistically, I'll probably be joining you shortly.

Re: Columbia c/o 2017 Applicants (2013-2014 cycle)
Keep the faith! I don't think there's any reason to assume you probably won't get in if you've been held. They haven't really done anything of this scale have they? So there's no data or pattern to look at, it's unprecedented and senseless to assume they will do this or that. Being wait listed would mean your acceptance is contingent on a high number of withdraws...getting held means they're still taking time to sort out the initial offerings doesn't it? In other words, there might be any fairly high number of unfilled spaces going to holds in April that wait listed or reserved people would not be eligible for. How high the number? We don't know the extent of the CLS admissions wackiness in terms of how much they've stacked it against the helds, but if you have high numbers it seems unlikely they wouldn't eventually offer you something and, if you are on the lower end of the hold spectrum, a lot of those 75ths seem to be future Harvardians fed up with having to wait. Still, waiting is torture...but once you're in you're free of the admissions office nonsense more or less if Columbia is the place for you.

Has anyone who applied before November still waiting to hear? (Not held, accepted or rejected - still pending?) I am wondering if I'm missing something.

So my file still says "Completion Pending". Its been like that for over a month now even though all the boxes checked are green. Should I be worried at this point? Seems like it should have gone complete already.

Are they just emailing decisions at this point or are some people still getting snail mail?

Mine was like that for like 6 weeks. It seems to be the norm now so I wouldn't worry.

Also, is there any pattern for Hamiltons/Butlers as far as snail v. email?

I also took around 6 months for completion. Nothing to worry about at this time, in my opinion.tenniscourt wrote:aboutmydaylight wrote:So my file still says "Completion Pending".
