I'm not mad at you, Stanford. I'm just disappointed.

anything for my fellow tls-ers ... i was going insane waiting. They sounded like they may not even make their april 30th deadline though so although i'm unsure about them making straight acceptances, it sounded more likely bc of how busy they seem to be.

I just called Stanford. they said they are still making straight acceptances and are trying to finish by the 30th. sounded like they were behind though.

I don't exactly believe this though Like, I don't see why they would lie, but I could see the person answering the phone being told "as long as we are reviewing apps we can make straight acceptances"

I agree with Scoobers. I think this is the "well, technically if you cured cancer but we accidentally dropped your application behind Faye's desk, you can still get a straight acceptance" answer.

yeah, i agree. i've heard from someone that since the faculty is looking over the apps (and they don't really care about the order since they just have a million papers to look over) that could be a contributing factor to why it's all over the place.

For those of us in the land of radio silence: what about your application do you think it is that has kept you still in the running this far? I'm banking on the Ford's abiding concern for the exquisitely crafted personal statement.

I'm thinking personal statement. Could be my LORs, though I never read them so they could be crap for all I know.

My personal statement has most likely kept me in the running thus far for some of the schools who were higher ranked and held on to my app for so long before an initial decision

It's been said before, but a basket of mini quiches always helps to keep one in the running. I'm sure the wealthy unicorn can confirm the effectiveness of this strategy at her admissions office.

I think they're telling the truth in the sense that they'll probably accept 2-3 more people. Could be a tls'er in there.

if stanford truly is your first choice and you haven't heard from them in a while, my advice would be to call them up and tell them you got into x and y but you'd 100% go with them over the others. It couldn't possibly hurt your chances

Yeah I would hope my LORs and PS were memorable, but I too applied pretty late, and I wonder if that's the real reason.

im conflicted. unfortunately, i have no idea how i would plan the move from the east coast to CA post-May... I feel like I'd need more time. sigh.
