Would people agree that the first wave of holds was for people who had already had a JS1, but the 2nd wave is for JS0s?

That's comforting to hear. Although it stings a little more than I thought, it beats the heck out of an outright ding. Historically, what can those held expect regarding timeframes and chances of acceptance?

Also, am I correct in understanding that a hold is different from a waitlist, or are they synonymous?

Yes. Status updated to "Application Held for Further Review" with a current status date of 2/7/2013.

Yes, the checker updated. Complete 12/19, held today. 172/3.6, strong softs.

Yes, my status checked updated the day I was held (Feb 1st) to "Application Held for Further Review"
