Did anyone else get their 4th update today? On a related note any ideas on what my dates could mean? 1/13-3/30-4/10-4/11

Re: Cornell c/o 2015 Applicants (2011-2012 cycle)
I have the exact same dates (except I think the January date might have been 1/14?). I can only assume that it's a reject at this point in the process, since it seems crazy to think they'd admit this late. Even if it is an admit, it seems that money is out of the question, so Cornell won't be manageable anyway. I have no idea what on earth has been taking them so long, but it's at least been reassuring to see how many other people are also annoyed!coloradokid10 wrote:Did anyone else get their 4th update today? If your 3rd and 4th updates were Tuesday and yesterday, you should be hearing a decision today, right?

"Our Admissions Committee has reviewed your application and has placed your name on May reserve. The good news about this is that you are still in the running. The bad news is that we will not be able to make a further decision on your application until at least a week after school starts.gaud wrote:Lulz. Right? Really Cornell? It took you five months to throw me into a several-hundred-person pile???![]()
Sorry about the bad news, guys.
Let us explain our situation. This year we've received a large number of applications for the available spaces in our entering class. Many of these people deserve an offer of admission. Unfortunately, we're not able to admit every deserving person, and since our small class size is such a high priority, we have to be very cautious about the number of offers we make; otherwise, we could end up with an overly large entering class. For this reason, we've set fairly specific target levels for the number of offers we should have outstanding at various points in time. Our several-hundred-person reserve group (of which you are now a part) helps us keep in line with these target levels. Then, later in the season after we've begun to hear back from people already accepted, When they show up on the first day of class and say "Hello, I'm Admitted!!", we decide if further offers are appropriate. If so, we review the files of all May reserve applicants and make additional offers. At that point, we also create our official waiting list...just for fun-sies, ok?.
We don't rank people on reserve and we will be taking at least one more close look at everyone involved. Therefore, if you believe it would be helpful, please feel free to supplement your application with additional information. If, for example, you are still in school, you should definitely forward any additional grades or honors you've received since you originally submitted your application. Additional faculty or employer recommendations might also be appropriate. Updated transcripts and letters of recommendation should be processed through LSAC. Please e-mail us at lawadmit@lawschool.cornell.edu as soon as possible expressing your interest in remaining on reserve. If we do not hear from you within three weeks, we will assume, as any reasonable human being should have done, you've made other plans for next year and will remove your name from reserve.
Thank you for your interest in Cornell Law School and congratulations on your fine record and background. We will be in touch as soon as possible.
Sincerely,
Cornell Law School Admissions

Updated for a third time today from 4/09. What the hell does that email above mean??? Have they filled up their class already before even reaching a final decision on some applications which were turned in way before the deadline (i.e. mine)? At this point are we all headed for this ridiculous reserve/waitlist bullshit?

Right, I got that the bold was a joke, but what concerns me is the first few lines of the second paragraph beginning with "let us explain our situation."

I think tomorrow is the day, 1/22 squad! We're all preparing our pitchforks and torches for our storming of the castle if things go unfavorably, right?

I already have. I've been standing out in front of the admissions office with a pitchfork for 5 months. My request? Just a little fillet and cabernet. 'Cuz I like to get wined and dined before I get F....Greenandgold wrote:You care if those of us who have already been reserved join in?la Rochejaquelein wrote:I think tomorrow is the day, 1/22 squad! I thought decisions are released one day after the fourth update.
