sibley, is held better for sure than WL?sibley wrote:you're waitlisted. hold would say hold right there. but WL isn't end of world.wizoz wrote:sibley wrote:Waitlist is a decision rendered, like admitted or denied. Hold is no decision yet, but you won't get one until they see who puts down seat deposits tomorrow.
I'm still confused about hold/waitlist. My letter says, "For that reason, a final decision regarding the status of your application has not yet been made, and the Admissions Committee has placed you on our wait list. However, the Committee was highly impressed with your credentials and is hoping to be able to extend you an offer of admission in the near future." Am I a waitlist hold, w/l, or hold? This language is really awk but good fluff.

Re: For WUSTL Applicants
I'm just hypothesizing (so anyone feel free to correct me). But I think in general yes. because it suggests you could get in and skip the WL. but you could also end up being waitlisted or rejected. so not necessarily... it's just likely you'd hear sooner if you were held than if you were waitlisted.finalaspects wrote:sibley, is held better for sure then WL?sibley wrote:you're waitlisted. hold would say hold right there. but WL isn't end of world.wizoz wrote:sibley wrote:Waitlist is a decision rendered, like admitted or denied. I got the hold email. Strangely worded. Makes it seem like they really want to admit you, but they offered too many people spots already. Weird...
GPA is somewhere around 75th and LSAT is above 75th.

Re: For WUSTL Applicants
I figured I'd add my two cents...
If you're waitlisted, you're waitlisted... that goes without saying.
I think held is certainly better... after reading the emails posted, I think those are for the people who they may want to admit, but just don't have the seats in the class.
Of course, that's just speculation... I've never heard of an admissions office doing this for regular decision...

wtf. is there something in your app that qualifies you as 'weird?' (just trying to figure this one out... seems ridiculous)hykang wrote:I was complete in October. if I want to ride out the waitlist, what date should I put for "I want to remain on the waitlist until" ?

Don't think so. Considering I have a scholarship offer from Michigan, and I'm "on hold" at Harvard, I'm not too worried about it. Pretty satisfied with my options for next year.sibley wrote:wtf. is there something in your app that qualifies you as 'weird?'hykang wrote:I was complete in October. Re: For WUSTL Applicants
the funny part is the held email and the waitlist email is similar except for the two words held and waitlist. both say they really want you....hykang wrote:I got the hold email. Strangely worded. edit: nevermind the hold email says "very near future" while the waitlist email states "near future"
