Since all my apps are in and I'm just waiting on two more schools' decisions, is there any disadvantage to turning off CRS emails? Don't wanna miss anything important on the off chance it comes through that channel, but I'd also like to stop playing email whack-a-mole.

My most exciting acceptance to date has been Emory - I am amazed I got into such a high-ranked school, even though I don't think I can attend.

Two weeks of radio silence broken by an acceptance -- from last Friday that Gmail had hidden away in my "promotions" folder. I'll take it!

I'm trying to temper my dislike for NYC with the fact that this is an opportunity few get to experience - not too many other people get to work 30 floors above the center of Times Sq. I should really take this in and cherish it while I am still here, but it's hard not to be excited about leaving.ashrice13 wrote: Damn. I was trying to take a picture of my view but I can't without including identifying info of either me or my company.
Basically, I see cement walls.
I wonder if when I end up in a sleepy little Southern metro, i will miss the craziness of NYC...

I get that. I've visited NYC many times and after even a week there I'm kind of ready for some personal space and fresh airHennessyVSOP wrote:I'm trying to temper my dislike for NYC with the fact that this is an opportunity few get to experience - not too many other people get to work 30 floors above the center of Times Sq. Have friends and family who live in Times Square... they think it is miserable. To walk anywhere you have to walk through hundreds of tourists and the blazing TV screens. Every day. I do not envy them.HennessyVSOP wrote:I'm trying to temper my dislike for NYC with the fact that this is an opportunity few get to experience - not too many other people get to work 30 floors above the center of Times Sq. Upper West Side by Central Park is really chill imo. East Village is too young (18-21 NYU kids with fakes)
I personally can't get good rest in my Brooklyn apartment. I think it affects my daily concentration/energy/enthusiasm/excitement for life. Will definitely aim to have a studio when I can, for peace of mind. A coworker suggested that my current living situation (horrid) affects my overall judgment of NYC.
My friend who is from Alabama, lives in Manhattan, can't wait to move to New Orleans.
That being said, I have absolutely 0 interest in returning to Ann Arbor (undergrad school). Or going to UVA/Cornell because of their quaint settings.

i lived in a sorta non gentrified area in manhattan for some time. it was a shoebox and don't live there anymore but have fond memories of it.quigleyest wrote:Have friends and family who live in Times Square... they think it is miserable. Thanks! A few of my mentors graduated from UW Law, and it's definitely one of my top quality of life picks, so I'm really happy about it. We'll see what shakes out with scholarships though, they're known to be a little tight with the money.HennessyVSOP wrote:Congrats!!Kopetz wrote:.Mr_Chukes wrote:What school lolKopetz wrote:Two weeks of radio silence broken by an acceptance -- from last Friday that Gmail had hidden away in my "promotions" folder. God damnit. My adrenaline goes through the roof when I have a missed call and a voicemail.
Just happened but it was a wrong number.

I've had the displeasure of being placed on some sort of call list this week and have gotten about 5 calls in the past two days.. it kills me.Rigo wrote:God damnit. My adrenaline goes through the roof when I have a missed call and a voicemail.

Thanks! Berk is sending out first round of merit aid Feb. 15th, and Penn has just now invited admits to apply for the Toll PI Fellowship.forum_user wrote:Hey guys, not sure if this has been done elsewhere but I'm trying to keep track of T14 merit scholarship (non-fin aid related) offers so far this cycle. I think you have to individually unsubscribe from everything, so I don't know if turning off CRS will help... but I've been tempted to turn mine off too. I think at this point all the important places have already found us through CRS so should be fine!ayylmao wrote:Since all my apps are in and I'm just waiting on two more schools' decisions, is there any disadvantage to turning off CRS emails? Good idea! Cornell sends you an offer once you send in their basic scholarship application form.VA2lawschool wrote:Thanks! Cornell also has a full-ride merit Hughes Scholarship. I believe it's invitation-only with deadline to apply at the end of this month, interviews over ASW (March 23-24) and offers I presume after that.forum_user wrote:Added, thanks!katthegreat11 wrote: Good idea! Idk if I actually got YP'd but that entire system is one of the most counter-intuitive bullshit ideas in law school today.

You're not wrong, but I will say I think it's a little overstated around these parts. It definitely exists, but only in the sense that people who are shoo-ins for Harvard might get dinged/WL at Cornell. It sometimes get applied as "I'm above a 75th and didn't get in, it's clearly yp" in an attempt to explain away any holistic reasons for not being acceptedRParadela wrote:Idk if I actually got YP'd but that entire system is one of the most counter-intuitive bullshit ideas in law school today.

I got WLd at GW 2 days after being accepted at UVA.. Just seems strange to me. People with similar stats as me went 37 for 37 at GW according to LSN lolDr.Degrees_Cr.Cash wrote:You're not wrong, but I will say I think it's a little overstated around these parts. Re: TLS c/o 2020 Applicants (aging poll)
I got WL'ed at Iowa and was above both 75ths, significantly above in GPA. Didn't think anything was wrong with my app since I've been accepted everywhere else I've applied so far (including a reach) and only WL'ed once (at a reach). Anyway, the reason I figured YP was because of how quickly they came to a decision. I got WL'ed about a week after I went complete, so I figured they couldn't have looked my application over THAT closely to find something wrong with it.Dr.Degrees_Cr.Cash wrote:You're not wrong, but I will say I think it's a little overstated around these parts. Oh well, it happens. I'm in where I want to go with a scholarship anyway so I'm not upset, just confused lol.
