This analysis is both reassuring and terrifying. Numerically it seems to bode so well for my application, but I still haven't even heard about JS1 which makes it seem like maybe there is another reason I'm not getting one. On a related note I know the application cycle has been pushed back but interviews must be concluding in the next few weeks if they are going to meet the April 30th decision deadline right?

Sorry for the kerfuffle earlier about the 200 days thing. That was a typo. I meant 100+ days. I applied the week after apps opened and went complete in September. No JS1 yet.
If I dont hear soon I might just throw in my deposit for SLS to get a jump on housing.

I remember people getting JS1s in March from last year's thread. People get JS1s off the waitlist, too. It ain't over 'til it's over.lawapp1 wrote:This analysis is both reassuring and terrifying. Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
This seems silly because Stanford's on-campus housing app closes beginning of May typically and there's 0 incentive to apply early because it's assigned via lottery. I guess if you're living off campus it might be helpful to commit earlier but bc of the quarter system people don't finish spring quarter until mid-June anyway so a lot of vacancies don't open up until then (this is not even mentioning the fact that it's outrageously expensive to live off-campus near SLS).bobleman300 wrote:If I dont hear soon I might just throw in my deposit for SLS to get a jump on housing.
Also you lose the ability to play H/S need offers against one another, if that's interesting at all to you.

Hi. Are you new or a long-time lurker?margaretmitchell wrote:luo wrote:Given that Harvard has been withholding offers for almost a month and that there is a ASW coming up very soon, I feel the urge to propose the following theory: their first ASW on March 7 has been oversubscribed and they don't want to admit more students until after the first ASW in order to avoid a messy situation where more admitted students show up for ASW than they can possibly accommodate.
Hence those of us who are anxiously checking our phones every 30 seconds for the past several weeks can relax our nerves a bit for another two weeks or so knowing that the call will not come until March 9 the earliest.
Given that Harvard is located in Boston, Massachusetts, I feel the urge to propose the following theory: snow.

Checking in since my January JS1 and reading through pages of old posts I missed. The amount of stress on this thread gives me hives. I don't know how you all stand it.

I think it's higher than 10% of 170+ LSAT scorers with GPAs too low for consideration for Harvard. Especially in the larger 170-174 bunch. I would guess closer to 15%-20% overall.

Re: Harvard c/o 2018 Applicants (2014-2015 Cycle)
While it may not be a great sample, lawschoolnumbers.com shows 56 applicants with 173+ and 3.51+ and 22 applicants with a 173+ and a gpa ≤3.5.jaywil08 wrote:I think it's higher than 10% of 170+ LSAT scorers with GPAs too low for consideration for Harvard. So looks like an approximately 72% with a 173 had a 3.51+
EDIT: The ratio for last cycle was 90:52 or 63% with a 173 had a 3.51+, and for 2012-13 it was 91:33 so hard to estimate but certainly less seem to be out of the running for HYS than just 10% - combined percentage with a 173+ and 3.51+ for the last 3 years is 69%

I'm in a similiar situation –– 173+, GPA above median, submitted in October, but no JS1.
I wonder if K-JD might seem to suggest to Harvard that you're more likely to defer. It might be a strategy to waitlist such applicants (esp. K-JD), then admit off the waitlist to fill numbers and maintain medians.

no they'll interview a good while longer, including off the WL in May (this is all based on last year's cycle, i suppose there could be a different playbook). bear in mind that there've been ppl ITT who received JS1s after several months of silence.paragonloop wrote:Are you K-JD?lawapp1 wrote:This analysis is both reassuring and terrifying. AnMzungu wrote:What do you all think about Harvard's LSAT 75th this cycle? I've got a >75th LSAT and a <25th GPA, so the high-LSAT applicant drop is obviously good for me, but how much does Harvard care about preserving their non-median percentiles?
I believe very little because from what I understand only the medians are part of the ranking calculation.

Saw people said that often people get JS1s off the WL. Does that mean that once you have a JS1 you're likely looking at an acceptance or a rejection? I had kind of hoped that getting a JS1 was an indicator that I'd at least get a WL.

not necessarily, i was a JS1-and-done last year, and there were many others. rejected the day before the WL came out. but many ppl who have had JS1s do end up on the WL (did end up on the WL last year at least)DK21 wrote:Saw people said that often people get JS1s off the WL. Whoa, so this year included you've had three JS1 interviews? Or are you still waiting? Either way, that's pretty impressive.rseaney wrote:not necessarily, i was a JS1-and-done last year, and there were many others. rejected the day before the WL came out. but many ppl who have had JS1s do end up on the WL (did end up on the WL last year at least)DK21 wrote:Saw people said that often people get JS1s off the WL.
