There is a very strong correlation between when you applied and when you hear back.Naked Dude wrote:Meh not necessarily. A lot of schools review in order but don't make decisions in order. Platy places give most people the once over at least.maglialoro wrote:That is the idea behind rolling admissions though. When did you apply?Naked Dude wrote:If i'm a reserve I guess I'm ok with that. I never argued against such a correlation.

Then why would you find it insulting if they filled their classes without even looking at your app? It's rolling admissions - first come first serve.Naked Dude wrote:I never argued against such a correlation.
What I would find insulting if true is that they don't actually tell later applicants that they are effectively waitlisted.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
If Cornell is basically using those of us still waiting as some sort of waitlist, why wouldn't they bother telling us we're on a waitlist? And why would they bother putting others on reserve today?
ETA: I guess I'm still holding out hope that they're--as they say--just very behind.

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
Schools vary in their process. It doesn't necessarily imply that of you apply first you get a decision first (many people complain about this incessantly). It generally means you get reviewed first but not decision first (at least that's the intelligent way to do it). I do get a little frustrated, but even moreso in the USC thread with people complaining that those who applied later got decisions first-entitled d-bags.

Just withdrew my application and some sweet, sweet, money. I really hope one of you gets in--Cornell really is absolutely incredible.

I know it's not a perfect measure by any account or if it's accurate at all but LSN has 6 people "Attending" Cornell now. Last year had 7 and last year had 10% more applicants than this year. Ugh.
Yield rate seems to be higher (at least on LSN).

Sorry, but your math is off. Even if this were an accurate measure 7 ->6 is more than a 10% decrease so it would actually suggest a slightly lower yield rate.FiveSermon wrote:I know it's not a perfect measure by any account or if it's accurate at all but LSN has 6 people "Attending" Cornell now. I remember someone calling a few weeks ago and them saying that all decisions should be made by May 1. Has anyone spoken recently with Admissions that can either support/deny that?

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
Yeah still complete as of early March. As for decisions being out by May, I'll believe it when I see it. If by that they mean just a blanket waitlist for everyone still waiting, then yeah ok I believe it. But as far as actual review...here's hoping they haven't made *that* many decisions (lol!) and they have a lower yield rate this year...come on...come on...

Re: Cornell 2011 applicants
This is what I was getting at with my applications review complaint. If it's all people who applied before me getting in, fair enough. But THIS! I went complete a full 2 weeks before mettasutta (no offense to you good sir/madam, you cannot control when you are reviewed) and I am STILL not under review, whereas said poster went under review LAST WEEK! What the hell man?mettasutta wrote:In review: 4/21 (after being "complete" since 3/16, and "processing" for two months)

Hold your horses there. People have been in review for over a month without a decision. Some people get their decision after 1 week in review. I wouldn't sweat it.Naked Dude wrote:This is what I was getting at with my applications review complaint. If it's all people who applied before me getting in, fair enough. But THIS! In review since 4/7. I called the admissions office twice. Each time they said I would "know by the end of the week."
