For people getting trimmed from the waitlist: how much contact did you have with admissions since being waitlisted? How many LOCI, if any?

Re: Michigan 2011
I sent in an LOCI, and an additional recommendation. However, I was pretty shocked to make the waitlist in the first place, since my numbers aren't anywhere near Michigan's medians.mistermister wrote:For people getting trimmed from the waitlist: how much contact did you have with admissions since being waitlisted? First timer here... Thought now would be as good a time as any to stop lurking and join in on the conversation.
I am also on the waitlist. Has anyone else received a letter being released from the list yet?

Hi guys, just wanted to stop by and say I snail mailed my withdrawal just now, so hopefully that helps someone who really wants to get in! Good luck to everyone.

if our status checker is still "waitlisted" can we assume we survived this cut?

If this is the case I'd be shocked as I'm pretty sure I have the lowest of all numbers on Michigan's WL (non-Urm)mistermister wrote:if our status checker is still "waitlisted" can we assume we survived this cut?

Re: Michigan 2011
I found out I was culled over the weekend (letter was dated the 21st of April). Sadly, my LOCI and the waitlist cut letter passed each other in the mail but my numbers were low for Michigan so while I am heartbroken, I doubt it would have mattered.
I checked the status checker for those who are wondering and it went from "Waitlisted" to "Decision" so if you don't see that change in your status you are likely still alive. Good luck to those who are still waiting; I hope some very deserving individuals get the spots that are offered.

Just so this doesn't happen to anyone else (though it may not make a difference either way), Michigan absolutely looks at e-mailed LOCIs. I e-mailed mine in and got a personal response 2 days later that the letter had been added to my file.

This is credited. They did the same for me.RTFM wrote:

Re: Michigan 2011
Me too. I personally think it is stupid to send a LOCI via snail mail unless the school specifically requests it. It takes too long, could get lost in the mail, is probably more of a pain in the ass for admissions people (considering that the entire app was submitted electronically and UMich communicates with applicants primarily by email anyway), etc.Kabuo wrote:This is credited. Re: Michigan 2011
I was wondering if anyone here was selected for an SEO internship. I read where two Mich students were admitted. . .and perhaps others here have applied. There is an SEO topic board that is a bit helpful, but little mention on timelines.
Since Penn, Harvard, Yale, Cornell and Columbia have 18 acceptances, there might be an Ivy advantage . . . considering NYU only has one acceptance. My question is, does anyone here have an update on what is going on with the process? Thanks.
