+1 applied in Oct, held today - fine w/me though, glad I'm still in it, expect to be accepted shortly after the april 1 deadline date - fwiw I just put august for the date to hold untilEncyclopedia Brown wrote: I don't know, I applied pretty early and still got held.
On a separate note, to anyone that's filled out the "hold" form online already: Until what date did you indicate you wanted to remain on the holdlist? I don't know what to put. I thought about typing "the day you admit me."

Yeah there are two distinct emails.najumobi wrote:there were two different emails sent. one for hold, one for waitlistkswiss wrote:Held. So is there an explicit Waitlist email, or do all of the people that were held just interpret the text differently.
Also, a very nice email. Good writing skills up in that admissions office.

did everyone who got an email with a decision today get an update on their status checker?
my status checker updated again to 3/31 but no email or decision today! pretty sure they have my emai right since i got that "we're working on it email" before.
not sure what this means!

Just got the wait list email. I agree with you guys, it was well written - it made me feel better about waiting longer... well, not really.

I'm worried that "held" just means they haven't gotten around to a third review yet?

I'm still confused about hold/waitlist. My letter says, "For that reason, a final decision regarding the status of your application has not yet been made, and the Admissions Committee has placed you on our wait list. However, the Committee was highly impressed with your credentials and is hoping to be able to extend you an offer of admission in the near future." Am I a waitlist hold, w/l, or hold? This language is really awk but good fluff.

anyone have any confirmation that "held" is better then "waitlist". i don't understand why even bother with making a distinction?

Re: For WUSTL Applicants
We appreciate your interest in attending Washington University School of Law. This year, due to a record number of outstanding candidates, we are currently over-committed with our offers of admission. For that reason, a final decision regarding the status of your application has not yet been made, and the Admissions Committee has placed your file on hold. The committee was highly impressed with your credentials and is hoping to be able to extend you an offer of admission in the very near future.

Re: For WUSTL Applicants
i dont think that makes sense though since i guess i just got my third status update today and no formal email indicating any decision at all. i don't think they would take the time to email you about not getting to your third review yet if i just got my third complete and wasn't informed of anything at all. so in the way you are putting it, im technically "held" up to this point too, except they didnt send me any emails so that's why im saying you probably shouldnt assume what you are assuming. which might be good or bad.quadsixm wrote:I'm worried that "held" just means they haven't gotten around to a third review yet?

to be honest, i actually thought i already had mine updated a third time on 3/19. maybe i lost track? do the updates mean three updates AFTER your initial complete date goes up or does it include that first one? sorry, i know this is dumb haha,...if it's the former then, yes...this is my third. (4th time total counting all times a date has appeared/changed)

Does WUSTL give out wait-lists like candy? Is it really a soft-rejection?
I guess no one knows, but I'd be interested to hear theories

Yeah, I'm pretty sure my status updated three times as well. I applied in the beginning of December, so I don't think it was an issue of applying too late in the cycle.Encyclopedia Brown wrote:I don't think so. I was waitlisted last year. My LSAT moved considerably this year, but at the end of last cycle, I felt like it was just a polite rejection.Does WUSTL give out wait-lists like candy? Is it really a soft-rejection?
