was put in the Special group on the preferred waitlist. Does anyone have any advice or know what this actually means? I feel like it's a nice way to say no slowly. From what I've read, the first two years everyone in this group got in, but reading through last years forum it seemed like a large number of people on the so-called "SPWL" did not.

Common wisdom is that the special group is YP. But I got accepted from the 'special/preferred' waiting list with a brief email of continued interest. So you still have a chance.

The thing is my medians weren't particularly above the averages. So I'm not really sure I could be a candidate for YP.

Anyone have any statistics on the likelihood of getting in off the special preferred list? Also, anyone know how the size of this year's applicant pool compares with those of other years?

And while we're at it, what about the odds of getting in from the preferred, but not special group within the preferred, waitlist? Unfortunately, I just sent a LOCI about a week before receiving the preferred waitlist email...

I've heard that, depending on the year, they take in about 10% off the preferred and the regular WL's... keep in mind though, that a larger portion of candidates on the preferred WL probably end up going elsewhere or withdrawing entirely.

I haven't found anything on this "special group" designation. And it's bugging me out. I got the same message, and am below their LSAT median, don't consider myself to be a YP, so I feel hesitant to say that being in the special group is any kind of solid indication for admission. Who knows what they're doing at this point.

Agreed. The WL designations don't do a whole lot to clarify. My prefered WL email indicated that they admit about 50 people of the wait list each year.

Status checker had been stuck on 12/7. Just changed to 2/22 today. Program time changed from both to part time. I can guess what that might mean, but has anyone seen that before?

My status checker changed from FT/PT to FT. Definitely gets my hopes up because I had an interview last week. Keeping my fingers crossed.

Edit: After reading the last few pages of this thread, I noticed that my status says Completed. The ASW does not work for me now, but someone posted above that you should wait until 6. Also, my country of citizenship is filled in, but I don't remember whether or not it was there to begin with.

Anyone care to take a crack at interpreting these events?

Same exact thing just happened to me - fingers crossed!

Based on my own experiences, I would say that you are about to receive some happy news. In the meantime, you need to be patient. Note that even after you have generated an ASW password, it may be days before you are able to log in. I was only able to log in after receiving my snail mail acceptance (granted, I am in DC, so the snail mail came quickly).

First complete was 1/13, I think? Somewhere around there. I had an interview and four other updates before I had ASW access on Friday

Georgetown is leading me on badd... held for further review, then regular waitlist? Is it worth it to try to ride out Georgetown's waitlist, or am I pretty much SOL without being on the preferred..?
