I've heard that, depending on the year, they take in about 10% off the preferred and the regular WL's... keep in mind though, that a larger portion of candidates on the preferred WL probably end up going elsewhere or withdrawing entirely.colforbin wrote:And while we're at it, what about the odds of getting in from the preferred, but not special group within the preferred, waitlist? I feel like it's a nice way to say no slowly. From what I've read, the first two years everyone in this group got in, but reading through last years forum it seemed like a large number of people on the so-called "SPWL" did not.
The thing is my medians weren't particularly above the averages. So I'm not really sure I could be a candidate for YP.
Anyone have any statistics on the likelihood of getting in off the special preferred list? Also, anyone know how the size of this year's applicant pool compares with those of other years?
I haven't found anything on this "special group" designation. And it's bugging me out. I got the same message, and am below their LSAT median, don't consider myself to be a YP, so I feel hesitant to say that being in the special group is any kind of solid indication for admission. Who knows what they're doing at this point.
What I do know for sure is that looking at my citizenship entry on the status checker 5,000x per day is getting prettyyy prettyy old.
