DR 12/14

I've gotten 3 e-mails so far, and each time my gmail updates I flinch. I know it's been said ad nauseum, but how hard is it just to post the decision on the application checker?

Do they accept LOCIs and extra rec's for this type of thing, or no?
I am one of those people, but I do not know. I assume they would accept it, but I am just going to leave my file as is since I don't think I have anything worthwhile to add to it at the moment.
I too received one of the odd defer emails. It just occurred to me that I could write a LOCI (since I'm sitting down to write one for Cornell too, grr). When I went to visit the g-town campus earlier in the year they encouraged you to send anything you felt was relevant to your app. Well, almost anything, as they explicitly begged you NOT to send your undergraduate thesis. Haha.

I think I might send one, a LOCI that is, just to give them something new to look at and perhaps attempt to demonstrate superior writing skills again.

A school I applied to that's much, much, lower ranked than Georgetown had the Decision posted on the status checker as well. I'm sure in later years more schools will do this. It just doesn't make sense to me to contact by mail.

I say this with parents who both worked in the Post Office, so I feel a little bad advocating for electronic notification rather than by mail.

My worry is if any law school saw what my true writing skills were they would take back their acceptances.

I would prefer to receive the decision via snail mail. Every time I log in to my Penn status checker I'm bracing myself to get rejected right there. I need to prepare myself to receive decisions and see the DR before knowing what it is so I can brace for the worst for a few days.

Because of the ED status, I think the e-mail will go out tomorrow. However, it does seem like they make intentional efforts to time the release of the e-mail with receipt of the letter - probably as a result of information sharing on sites like this.

Got a deferral via email today. 3.79, 168, non-URM. I'm mildly depressed about it, because Cornell is my top choice, and I feel like GULC is indicative of how that decision will go.

As Candide would say, if only this were the best of all possible worlds, then perhaps the e-mails would go out tomorrow. If the adcoms were working through the weekend and scanning the decisions during that time then everything should be sent out soon. But I'm not expecting that to be the case. I'll be honest, I certainly wouldn't have wanted to spend a Sunday evening scanning admission letters.

Went DR on 12/9 and no e-mail yet. Is that a good sign?

Haven't been home to check the mail yet... Really don't want to wait until Wednesday.

Also, did the mailing arrive in an envelope or package? We occasionally have problems with the mailman leaving packages at our apt complex (we just have mail slots).

People have said it's a small envelope - like an invitation.
