Don't worry, that's not WUSTL! the tables look like that, but overall it is much nicer! I have visited 6 schools, WUSTL has the nicest facilities by far (UIUC, ND, Vandy, UT, Cornell)tkim88 wrote:Man this is old school. Wooden chairs?? Which of those is the worst, Bandit? UT by a mile, right?BrazilBandit wrote:Don't worry, that's not WUSTL! the tables look like that, but overall it is much nicer! for classrooms it is UT - they have these weird chairs that are paired together (kinda like McDonalds in the good ole days) and you end up hitting your "partner" every time you sit up/down.
Overall, UIUC was the worst. ND is really freaking nice (but then again - South Bend is terrible) and Cornell made me feel like I was in "The Paper Chase"... Vandy has free coffee every morning!

GW has the McDonalds chairs too, which did not improve my impression there.

With much regret, due to personal reasons that are forcing me to wait a year to enroll, I just withdrew my acceptance and full scholly offer. Really really hope someone her can pick it up.

Re: WUSTL c/o 2018 Applicants
Hi All, I am looking for some advice regarding WUSTL. I am interested in the school and was accepted very quickly after applying (within a week or two) back in late January. I STILL haven't received any scholarship information, even after contacting the school a few times (they probably hate me at this point). I really want to consider the school, but I have no idea what is going on. They seemed happy to accept me quickly, and I think my numbers are good for WUSTL. Schools that are similarly ranked have given me great $$ and I am very hesitant to deposit or visit or make any moves without hearing more. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Please PM for any more details. Thanks.

Have you tried contacting your interviewer instead of the general admissions email? I have been getting faster responses by contacting someone directly...Ver91 wrote:Hi All, I am looking for some advice regarding WUSTL. Same situation, was told about a week ago by admissions that I was still "in review" for scholarship consideration by the committee and that it might be early April before I heard back, so they gave me a deposit extension until April 7th. The wait is brutal, I can relate! Hang in there! I have a pretty good (60k) offer from Minnesota, so really hoping WUSTL will at least match that, in terms of COA. Otherwise, I'll be elsewhere.Ver91 wrote:Hi All, I am looking for some advice regarding WUSTL. Re: WUSTL c/o 2018 Applicants
I talked with someone today that clarified the housing regulations for me and thought I'd pass along. St. Louis county stipulates no more than 3 unrelated persons can live in a single family home. They will check and enforce that there are no more than 3 people on the lease, but some owners of houses near WashU will rent to larger groups of people if they can work it out among themselves who will and won't be on the lease. This individual had never heard of anyone getting in trouble for having more people live together and said as long as you didn't give the neighbors any reason to complain, didn't see how the city/county would ever find out or really care. So basically, it's going to come down to how willing each owner would be to having someone live there that wasn't on the lease.
I found this listing that looks promising. Owner said there are currently 4 engineering grad students living there so I'm guessing this particular owner would continue to be open to a certain amount of flexibility on the 3 person limit. She is working on sending me additional pics. I should be 100% on my decision about WUSTL by late next week so if anyone is interested in getting together for a dog friendly house let me know.

Received a very generous bump from USC today (they weren't originally in the equation), and now I'm even more undecided. Looks like I have a lot of consideration to do over the next 9 ish hours.

just keep in mind that if you are considering living with a group to help keep your rent down, this place with four tenants will be more expensive than a lot of apartments. it looks nice and the location is convenient, I just want to make sure people realize you can usually find a one-BR in the $600 range around here.

Plus you can get a big ass one bedroom or two bedroom for cheap and it's probably going to be much easier to coordinate getting a place with just one other person.sublime wrote:Yea, different people have different prefrences, but being alone is worth a few hundred dollars a month imo, especially around finals time.

i think i'm still in shock at how cheap rent is in STL compared to home so it didn't seem that much and was really wanting a yard, but I'll keep that in mind and expand my search. thanks

Yeah I just sent in my application for a 1br apartment in CWE for around 600. I was tempted to spend an extra $100 for 200 more sq feet, but I visited and thought it was already big enough.peachesthedoge wrote:golden44 wrote:I talked with someone today that clarified the housing regulations for me and thought I'd pass along. On an unrelated note, it finally feels like spring here. I can't wait to go to the beach, or at least a lake.

Yeah I mean fwiw a studio is all about how you set it up. Mine is only 425 sq. ft. and I'm totally happy with the size because I set it up well.TetrisBlock wrote:Yeah I just sent in my application for a 1br apartment in CWE for around 600. What types of firms have OCI's at WUSTL? What are my chances of landing a job at a litigation boutique after graduation?
