Do the WL people have to affirm that they are still interested in being on the WL? Holds do. Any other Holds (or WLs assuming they have to affirm) weirded out by the fact that you have to put in your whole SSN to remain in consideration? How bout LSAC #? That's unique.... I trust them but the fewer times I have to enter my whole SSN online the better....

This is the hold letter

Dear ndirish2010,

We appreciate your interest in attending Washington University School of Law. This year, due to a record number of outstanding candidates, we are currently over-committed with our offers of admission. For that reason, a final decision regarding the status of your application has not yet been made, and the Admissions Committee has placed your file on hold. The committee was highly impressed with your credentials and is hoping to be able to extend you an offer of admission in the very near future.
I understand that you need to start making plans for this fall. Unfortunately, at this time, it is difficult to determine exactly when and how many additional candidates we will be able to admit. Admitted candidates have until April 1st to submit a deposit to reserve their seats in the entering class. As soon as we know that we have seats available, we will immediately notify those additional applicants to whom we are able to offer admission.

I do anticipate admitting additional candidates. For your part, if you wish to remain under consideration for admission, please complete the online form

We appreciate your patience and hope that you will continue to consider Washington University School of Law as your school of choice for your legal education.

Sincerely,

Mary Ann Clifford
Assistant Dean for Admissions

Waitlist is a decision rendered, like admitted or denied. Hold is no decision yet, but you won't get one until they see who puts down seat deposits tomorrow.

Well, I'm guessing that they might want to admit the held people but don't have room, so they need to wait to see who deposits. So held people will probably hear back pretty soon after. Wait list people will probably be looked at after May 1st, which I believe is when people who deposited can still change their mind until.

Held here as well. It's nice to hear something, finally. I'm hoping the held folk will be first in after the seat deposit deadline.

I would assume that holds are of a higher priority than waitlists, only because a decision has not been rendered, meaning holds will be notified of a decision right after deposit deadline day.

Thus, I predict that those on "hold" will receive a decision in a couple days (whether accepted, or WL)

Being held is preferable to a waitlist, IMO. Waitlist is a decision whereas a hold/deferral means that your application is still alive. Neither is really great to have this late in the cycle, but I'd rather be a hold than a WL today.

As for applying "late," I'm not sure if an early application means an early review. I applied the very first day that WUSTL was accepting apps.

I agree--this is by far the friendliest WL I've received.

WL earlier this afternoon. Anyone have any idea about how many people they accept from the waitlist every year?

Does held mean you can still be rejected? Like you could still be either... wl, in, or out? Is it just buying admissions more time?

Anyone still waiting? At this point I want a WL/Held because it's better than a rejection.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
