Does Berkeley accept "Why Berk" essays? I don't recall seeing one on their app, but I know some schools (like UVA) will accept them even if they're not solicited. I know I have no shot at Berk, but if they'll take an essay about why I would be a perfect fit for their school, one would not be difficult for me to write.

They allow 4 pages for a personal statement, so lots of people (myself included) basically added a "why Berk?" into their PS in some form.Holly Golightly wrote:Does Berkeley accept "Why Berk" essays? I added a short Berkeley-specific part at the end (and definitely took advantage of the extra space), but ever since I submitted I've been wishing I added more. Oh well, c'est la vie...Tangerine Gleam wrote:They allow 4 pages for a personal statement, so lots of people (myself included) basically added a "why Berk?" into their PS in some form.Holly Golightly wrote:Does Berkeley accept "Why Berk" essays? Edit: I'm an auto-reject anyway.

I'm excited! I've been UR since 11/02 and FR since early January...so I'm ready for a decision, whatever it may be.manu4ever882001 wrote:Anyone as nervous as me about FR decisions coming out on the 19th? UR 12/7, FR e-mail 1/11

Oh, ok. When is the decision date for that one? And also, if you don't mind my asking, where are you getting this information? having trouble finding it myself...Jericwithers wrote:I think theres only 2 FRs, so the 2nd one looks at all people applied by the deadline.queenofhearts wrote:For the next FR cycle, what dates of UR do you think that will include? Many people did, but some admits (like me) didn't, so don't stress yourself if you didn't write a special PS.Tangerine Gleam wrote:They allow 4 pages for a personal statement, so lots of people (myself included) basically added a "why Berk?" into their PS in some form.Holly Golightly wrote:Does Berkeley accept "Why Berk" essays? Re: Berkeley 2010
People have talked about it in the thread. Also, if you look on LSN it seems that there were alot of acceptances/rejections/waitlists on 2/19 and 3/19 last year. FR this year end roughly around 2/19 which would indicate there will be one more FR batch which will finish up around 3/19.queenofhearts wrote:Oh, ok. When is the decision date for that one? I also saw on LSN that there was nothing but a stream of rejections between now and the end of the cycle besides those put under what I am assuming is FR. So, here is hoping that they relook at some early applicants for the next FR batch.

With my shitty GPA, I am 100% screwed if I don't get FR! And probably about 95% screwed if I do get it.

Has there been any pattern with the days decisions have been released?skyhvm wrote:You beat me to posting seamonkey!seamonkey wrote:BoaltAdmissions on Twitter wrote:More decision updates are heading your way in the near future, but they won't be the last of them. I'd like to be optimistic and think that the "near future" is today. Maybe me and some of the other 11/9'ers will finally hear...

If one has already sent in a LOCI, is it going to seem redundant to send in additional supplemental application materials, such as an additional letter of recommendation, on top of the three original that were sent?

Have you been waitlisted, or are you still under review?LSHPFL10 wrote:If one has already sent in a LOCI, is it going to seem redundant to send in additional supplemental application materials, such as an additional letter of recommendation, on top of the three original that were sent?

I would save the rec in case you get placed on the wait list or sent to faculty review.LSHPFL10 wrote:Still under review.td6624 wrote:Have you been waitlisted, or are you still under review?LSHPFL10 wrote:If one has already sent in a LOCI, is it going to seem redundant to send in additional supplemental application materials, such as an additional letter of recommendation, on top of the three original that were sent?

Re: Berkeley 2010
So is it bad to still be under review (12/7) and not have gotten a FR email? I'm still a bit confused about this whole concept in general. Can someone explain whether FR is better than still being UR with no word since 12/7? Thanks for the help everyone...

. In all honesty, I don't think you can make anything of it yet. There were some people accepted in February without ever going to FR and being UR for quite awhilebayareadunks wrote:So is it bad to still be under review (12/7) and not have gotten a FR email?
