Hope the "dean's fellow" goes to one of you. Good luck guys!
P.S. This is my favorite thread on TLS which makes it 100 times harder for me to give up WashU.

Oh yeah whoops still didn't make a new poll. Taking suggestions.LawsRUs wrote:Also, why are people being hilarious and voting in the poll still? You mad?
You can probably get it up to 60 by the time classes start with like 30 minutes a day with a typing program. I'm not sure if this is true, but I heard to get faster at typing you need to practice going 20% faster than you can comfortably type without typos. You're unlikely to get faster at typing just from regular writing for emails, papers, etc.Hikkomorist wrote:What's a good target speed for typing? I really doubt I can surpass 50-60 WPM before classes start - currently around 30-40 WPM.
Yes. You can bring an external keyboard and a mouse. I had a couple of friends bring a mouse so that it was quicker for them to copy paste (you generally aren't copy/pasting on an exam but sometimes claims are almost identical and you just change one piece of the analysis.)TetrisBlock wrote:You can probably get it up to 60 by the time classes start with like 30 minutes a day with a typing program. I loved the Typing of the Dead games, but I'm not sure if they really help or not compared to Mavis Beacon and the other serious programs. It's just fun typing words as fast as possible to shoot zombies.
Q: Can you bring an external keyboard for exams? My laptop keyboard is terrible and it would be impossible for me to type faster than 30 words per minute on it
lol @ targneron wrote:I definitely type faster on external keyboards.
For the poll, what about making it something about likelihood of attending?
My b.PeanutsNJam wrote:External mouse sounds like a brilliant idea. Especially if you want to maneuver through your essay making adjustments, fixing typos, etc. Could you imagine if someone brings in an external mechanical keyboard though. Those things sound like machine guns. But they're comfortable and likely to improve your speed/accuracy too.
Yes. No one wanted to sit next to him during the exam so it actually seems like a pretty cr idea.LawsRUs wrote:Do people actually brings external keyboards though?, that seems a bit odd..

Yep, there's a pair outlets between every seat.buckiguy_sucks wrote:Well that makes a lot more sense. Still seems excessive to have an external keyboard but I guess if your laptop's is shitty enough you don't have a choice.
Are there enough outlets? My laptop is supposed to hold like 8 hours of charge but I definitely don't trust it during a three hour exam
Next year I hope all the 1Ls will be carrying around keyboards because of the PMT stamp of approval.PourMeTea wrote:Yes. Edit: Most people had an external mouse.
