Agree 100%. Was about to remove my post but then saw that she quoted it... so now it makes no difference.LRGhost wrote:Couple things, why make that post and not PM it?
Second, as an applicant, he paid money for his application to be handled a certain way. It wasn't. I understand being respectful and as someone who works in customer service, I'm nicer than I usually am when talking with people on the phone, especially when situations are out of their control. But he has every right to be miffed that he paid for his application, was in communication with them about it, and that they dropped the ball.
Can you do anything about it? No. Is it probably best to say 'Ah, I understand'? Yes.

For those who have gotten in off of reserve, how have you been finding out?

Also what status dates is everyone getting in sitting on? Any people getting in with the 6/3 update?

For those who are all anxious about being updated on the third, I was in off the 6/3 update on Thursday night. Don't mind PMing my stats but they're pretty mediocre (next best was gw with 11k in need based, so I'm definitely going to ithaca). I did send two letters and visit the school and I've got two handfuls of good softs.
Feels like a miracle.

Congratulations! There is nothing wrong with getting the benefit of a bit of luck for success. Ooh man, wish I could do something to get Cornell to view my app with positive eyes at this stage of the game...mk3167 wrote:For those who are all anxious about being updated on the third, I was in off the 6/3 update on Thursday night. Has anyone been successful in negotiating scholarship once getting in off the reserve?

They made it sound pretty damn unlikely, though I'm definitely going to give it a shot anyway.waitlistpro wrote:Has anyone been successful in negotiating scholarship once getting in off the reserve?

Congratulations! That is magnificent. Would you mind elaborating on the visiting aspect? My advisor strongly recommended not to visit but I take his advice with a huge grain of salt, and I'm curious what your experience was like.mk3167 wrote:For those who are all anxious about being updated on the third, I was in off the 6/3 update on Thursday night. Also, I'm still sitting on my original 4/26 update of Reserve for all of the people wondering what dates are out there.

Very similar situation here. Hope it works out for both of us!chadbrochill wrote:At this point reserve-acceptances are a sticker proposition and you would have to deposit $900 today without expectation of aid in the future.
Cornell is a very special school to me and was the fuel that motivated me to study for the LSAT. I was literally hopping up and down in the air for 10 minutes in exhilaration when I finally got in on Thursday. But given the current circumstances, it might not work out with my other deadlines coming soon. Its an amazing school and I have amazing friends attending. If they force me to withdraw, I'm hoping they are doing so in order to give my spot to one of you out there waiting!
(For those wondering I was stuck on 4/4 reserve until being admitted 6/14, I submitted 2 LOCI's my most recent one being 6/6)

Does anyone know if Cornell has any scholarship money left? Or are they pretty much out?

Spoke to Cornell today and they said they are pretty much all out of money. May be true or they may have just been telling that to me.Trips_93 wrote:Does anyone know if Cornell has any scholarship money left? Or are they pretty much out?

Also, I'm still sitting on my original 4/26 update of Reserve for all of the people wondering what dates are out there.
I visited in Late March/Early April, a few weeks after I had been put in Reserve. I think I actually said in my first LOCI that I was planning to visit within a few weeks and they advised me to call ahead of time to schedule a tour/class visit.
In reality it was kind of a last minute trip, but I called the admissions office on a Friday and talked to someone who helped me schedule the tour/class for the following Monday. I didn't interview or anything, I just showed up, asked a few questions, sat in class, and then left. I was on my way home by 2pm on Monday. (I went up on Sunday afternoon, so I probably spent about 24-30 hours total visiting. The tour was maybe an hour long and I think the class was about the same. I'd already been to Cornell a few times so I didn't feel the need to spend much time on campus, but I did want to see the law school in particular.)
I'm not sure if it's too late to visit--I would definitely call them first--but it seems like it helped me. I feel like it's helpful for them to put a face to an application. Also, because Cornell is so far away from everything, I think it makes a good impression that you're willing to do whatever you can to get to know the school. Plus, it makes accepting much easier knowing what you're getting into.
If you're in Cali or something, it kinda makes sense if you're not able to visit, but I was coming from NYC, so I feel like there wasn't any excuse except for the long bus ride and the fact that I had to take a day off work. But in the long term, it's no big deal.
Oh also at one point the receptionist definitely wrote my name down on something. For what, I'm not sure, but it felt like a good sign.

Thank you for responding! That's really cool. I live between NYC and CT so I'm all for making the drive. I know this will sound cheesy, but your approach seems genuine and mature. I think my advisor was afraid I'd run into the Admissions Office and start genuflecting.mk3167 wrote:Thanks!pebblsrock wrote:Congratulations! That is magnificent. Did not get the update, but it doesn't make me nervous. It seemed like the last batch of acceptances (off the reserve) were people that didn't get the 6/3 update, which I'm still stuck at.
