On a dark and stormy night in Palo Alto, the only sound was the creak of a desk drawer as Dean Deal opened it to reveal the carefully stacked rejection letters.cardinals1989 wrote:This scares me.SLS2011 wrote:The weather is stormy in Palo Alto.

Question: do we know for those of us who have survived so far, if our application has been read in its entirety (i.e. PS, rec letter, etc.) at least once? or they just did a cursory review and sent the stuff to admissions committee for "THE REVIEW"?
I like to think the former is true. Although logistically, it is hard to accomplish.
I know Yale reads the apps multiple times. I read in the admissionsdean.com that Admissions office reads the apps, sends the ones they like to three committee members, they score the apps from 1-4, if you get 12 you are in.
I like to think the former is true. Although logistically, it is hard to accomplish.

Someone claimed they got WL'd by Stanford in the U. Chicago thread. Not sure if I believe them but I asked him for more details (when/notification method).

He said he was WLed by Harvard, too. They haven't started yet either, have they? Maybe he just means held? Or dinged?Knock wrote:Someone claimed they got WL'd by Stanford in the U. Chicago thread. Not sure if I believe them but I asked him for more details (when/notification method).

Bored at work and decided to follow up on this.bdubs wrote:Yeah, I was suggesting that the number of acceptances yet to be delivered is higher than 25%. I think LSN skews more toward straight out of undergrad, "traditional" applicants. That is my hypothesis as to why Stanford seems to be biased towards higher numbers on LSN.
SLS website says class breakdown is as follows:
directly from college: 24%
1-2 years after college: 42%
3 or more years after college: 34%
LSN data for accepted SLS applicants:
directly from college: 57.50%
1-2 years after college: 15.00%
3 or more years after college: 22.50%
Unreported: 5.00%
Somewhat surprisingly the pending and rejected pools don't look nearly as biased. Not clear if they are holding the non-traditional students for later rounds or if it is just distribution bias in LSN participants.
