Re: Harvard 2011 Applicants
For anyone sending additional docs-
I had a recommender send in a LOR, they mailed it Thursday, it was listed on my status checker by Friday PM.
Idk what, if anything, it means that they have the ability to process docs the day they receive them these days..but I was surprised.

More like the difference between having 10 and 10,000 in the inbox, I would guess.ElvisAaron wrote:For anyone sending additional docs-

With the volume of holds we've seen and the trend for late apps on here I figured it'd be busier. Maybe the hold volume isn't actually as big as it seems...or few are sending LOCI and add'l LOR.d34dluk3 wrote:More like the difference between having 10 and 10,000 in the inbox, I would guess.ElvisAaron wrote:For anyone sending additional docs-

I'm sure 10 is an exaggeration, but no way the volume they are getting even compares to the beginning of the cycle.ElvisAaron wrote:With the volume of holds we've seen and the trend for late apps on here I figured it'd be busier. Re: Harvard 2011 Applicants
I also had a late letter. I called LSAC to ask how long till it gets there. Varies by school but Harvard has a 24-48 hour updating thing so they know about the extra letter quickly and get it quickly. To tell if Harvard has recieved your letter though, you cannot look at status checker. You must log into LSAC, click on letters of rec, and see if LSAC actually sent your letter on that screen.

You can if your LOR is sent direct to HLS and not to LSAC.marcellus wrote: you cannot look at status checker.

I'm applying for Fall 2012. I just got to this thread to check it out and obviously, there is no way i can go through 161 pages. Can someone who has been in this thread since the beginning make me aware of the important things discovered in this discussion?

Re: Harvard 2011 Applicants
1. JR = Josh Rubenstein, dean of admissions for Harvard Law School. JR1 = Phone interview with JR. He will email you in advance. It takes 4-8 minutes usually, and he generally asks a) Why Law?/Why Law School? b) Why Harvard? c) Questions?. Then, if you get accepted, you get a call later; this is known as the JR2.Seoulless wrote:I'm applying for Fall 2012. 2. JR2s seem to come on Mondays, holds/waitlists/rejections seem to come on Fridays, and JR1s come on any business day.
3. JR2s seem to come in the morning or early afternoon.
4. JR has a twitter: @hlsadmissions.
5. Holds are meaningless/UR date/etc. are all meaningless, don't read anything into it. Getting a complete email without getting a JR1 doesn't mean anything, getting a complete email after getting a JR1 doesn't mean anything.
6. ~75% of JR1s get JR2s, so it's by no means guaranteed.
7. If you don't get your JR2 within the next monday or two after your JR1, you're probably out of luck.
8. If you have any updates to your file or want to tell them about a scholarship deadline, you need to send it snail mail to the admissions office (don't forget to put your LSAC# on the letter). If you email they'll just send you an automated message that says this. Address for snail mailings:
Harvard Law School J.D. Admissions
Austin Hall 203
1515 Massachusetts Avenue
Cambridge, MA 02138
9. Send new LORs to LSAC and then assign them from the LSAC website to HLS. Don't send directly unless you have reached the limit of LORs allowed on LSAC's website.

So I'm still sitting at UR 1/31...can I write a LOCI even if I haven't been held, just letting them know of my recent activity and my continued interest in the school? Or does Harvard prefer not to receive any updates from you until you've heard at least something from them?Knock wrote: 8. HLS responses come via e-mail right (except for JR2's)? So is there any point in checking the status checker?

I can't believe there hasn't been any action at all this week! I don't understand what is taking so long for Harvard to just send me my rejection e-mail... don't they have some sort of auto-system?
