I'll be doing that this weekend. Totally didn't realize I even needed to until after I looked back over the acceptance packet. Their finaid website is extremely unhelpful, so I'm glad I saw that or I never would have filled the thing out. Didn't know I had to fill this out. Sounds like a pain in the ass.anniesaysrelax wrote:I'll be doing that this weekend. I did it yesterday. It's NOT as bad as Need Access, which may have been one of the worst things I've ever had to do!

If you've already done your 2009 taxes, I'd say it should take 20-30 minutes. If you haven't done your taxes.....do your taxes.

Re: Emory 2010
Sorry for the delay but my brief is kicking my butt. I am a 1L and I did take out the full amount. I had a decent amount left over last semester, and hopefully that will be the case this semester. However, I don't have a car down here ( I live at one of the apt. complexes that has Cliff shuttle). That saves me from having to make car payments/insurance/gas/parking pass. On the other hand, I do go out more often than I should so maybe my expenses are evened out. My best advice is to just make a sheet of expected expenses and budget it from there. Rather than use the $2600 estimated book price look at the book list used this year for 1L's and Amazon the prices + supplements. You can then subtract that from the loans. Start saving some money now. You can then take out what you think you will need in loans, and if you need more you can dip into that savings and if not you can adjust for it in the future.maximus34998 wrote:
Gobucks, are you a 1L at Emory right now? Did you take out the full amount in GradPlus loans? And if you did, are you finding you have a lot of money left over, maybe even to the point that you will be able to take less than the full amount in your second and third years? Thanks!

Admitted!
Emory seems to finally be reaching below 3.6 for GPAs. I appear to be one of like 3 people on LSN who have been admitted so far without a 3.6. My numbers and LSN are in my profile.
Do scholarship offers usually come with the admission package or in a separate mailout?

LSN suggests a 167/3.08 got in with 60k. It looks like the person is from ATL, and in undergrad (I assume emory) non-URM. Flame or hope?

Re: Emory 2010
When were you admitted and when did you receive scholarship notification? I just got the admit packet today, but I don't see anything about a scholarship in it. I really like Emory, but it would be a hard offer to take without money!lulu20117 wrote:nyyankees wrote:LSN suggests a 167/3.08 got in with 60k. The packet came yesterday (they sent it to my permanent address so I didn't find out until this morning)- The scholarship info was in the acceptance lettercendien wrote:When were you admitted and when did you receive scholarship notification? Re: Emory 2010
Wow.. thats pretty disappointing. No mention in mine whatsoever. Seems like people in my range were getting at least $15k/year last year. I was excited to get this packet, but if they're not going to offer anything, I don't think I want to pay sticker.lulu20117 wrote:The packet came yesterday (they sent it to my permanent address so I didn't find out until this morning)- The scholarship info was in the acceptance letter

Re: Emory 2010
lulu, I have very similar numbers. If I were to find that same offer in my mailbox, my cycle would most likely be over right then and there.
I'm a few states away, however, so I guess I have to wait another day or so if there is in fact a letter out there with my name on it. Although the mail has not come yet today.
Either way, CONGRATS. I'm jealous.

Re: Emory 2010
Found some weird info on another site and decided to call. They told me that some scholarship notifications go out separately (This didn't sound specific to Woodruf, just in general). Hopefully thats the case for me. And maybe that is useful info for some of you as well!

In via mail packet today. 3.35/170. I called after I got my acceptance packet and inquired about scholarship information. The (extremely nice) lady on the phone said that scholarship decisions are coming separately.
