Thanks for the quick and helpful response, Veritas. I'll have to look into what exactly to say when I write them. Would you mind if I pm for some advice? thanks again.Veritas wrote:I wrote them to negotiate and they added me to some list for re-review for aid at the end of the cycle.deem wrote:Congrats! I got almost the same scholarship offer and was wondering the same thing. The offer makes Loyola quite enticing, but more money may really help to swing me away from higher ranked schools in the area. Do they care about what other schools you have gotten into and/or how much money other schools have offered you (even if the offer is less but from a higher ranked school)?Nat1018 wrote:In with 66k! Thanks for any info that you guys and gals can provide and good luck to everyone still waiting to hear back!

Re: Loyola LA - Has anyone heard back?
Honestly I was kind of surprised too. I really thought my decisions was going to be between a T1 like American (or Fordham/Emory if I got lucky) and a T2 (Loyola) with money. Loyola is a great school though, the entertainment/big law in LA factor is pretty cool. In the admitted student pamphlet they sent, there are lists of curriculum tracks - I was pleasantly surprised, I suppose for the entertainment and big law stuff one must be super competitive in their L1 year though.i'm surprised you didn't get any money. i think they will probably offer you something eventually with those numbers.

Any general tips you think might benefit the thread at large, as far as how you approached the negotiation?Veritas wrote:No problem deemdeem wrote:

Well, first off, they do not match scholarships from other schools, it seems that they don't really "negotiate" either. They will reconsider you and will get a response before their deposit deadline.beef wellington wrote:Any general tips you think might benefit the thread at large, as far as how you approached the negotiation?Veritas wrote:No problem deemdeem wrote:

Just let them know you are interested in them and what they have to offer and that you would like to please be reconsidered for a higher scholarship.

Decision was made/mailed yesterday... reach school so I do not have high expectations for this one.
For those accepted did your application status check say anything other then decision mailed?

Any of you seriously interested in Loyola should check out some of the alternative rankings - in which Loyola is often ranked closer to #20 than #70.... They are seriously changing some of my views. I found an article by one of Loyola's professors, Theodore Soto, and some other non USNews rankings. They're being discussed here:

Re: Loyola LA - Has anyone heard back?
Does anyone who has visited Loyola from out of state have any advice for visiting the school? I am trying to plan a last minute trip to California for next week and am looking for any advice that you might have...good hotel near the school to stay at, etc.? I'm trying to make this trip as cheap as possible.
Does Loyola offer travel stipend to scholarship recipients? (i'm assuming no)

Anyone with a sub-160 hear back yet? I have a 159 and I'm expecting to hear back later rather than sooner.

My decision was mailed last week and I am under the 160 mark... I am on the east coast so I am thinking mid-week I should have the decision, I will let you know what it is (I would assume reject or waitlist)

I've been complete since 12/3. I think I marked day/evening for consideration on my application. Would that delay my decision? Has anyone called to change their application to only day/is this possible?

does anybody know if loyola gives out a lot of need-based aid? or if you have already received merit-based scholarship if you are unlikely to also receive need-based?

Re: Loyola LA - Has anyone heard back?
I called they don't have any stipends for travel. I'm going out 4/6 to see Loyola. I'm interested in entertainment & corporate law. my brother just started as an agent assistant in LA. Maybe he will be big time by the time I finish school and he will be able to help me out.mango26 wrote:beef wellington wrote:Anybody know if Loyola does travel stipends? For ASW or otherwise?

I applied ED in the beginning of November. Decision deferred until the regular application pool closed Feb 1. Still hearing crickets.StoneontaState wrote:Anyone with a sub-160 hear back yet? I have a 159 and I'm expecting to hear back later rather than sooner.

I have a 164 and applied mid Dec...no idea why no response yet, but I am interested in the entertainment law as well...at least by the time I hear back I'll have all my other offers finalized so can negotiate straight away...assuming I get in.
