Re: Vanderbilt 2013
I am in the 3.35-3.4 GPA range with a 169 LSAT. I had a two year break from school for an LDS mission after obtaining about 45 credits. Since then I have a 3.72 GPA trend. Decent softs but nothing that is on the "cure cancer" level. (Published in undergrad journal, TA, interned for a law firm.)
I assume I am a borderline decision.
EDIT: For people I don't read the string before this, I posted this in response to the people who have waited over 8 weeks for a decision.

168/3.6.. they sent me a viewbook with a fee waiver, if that makes any difference.hopefulundergrad wrote:Are you Sept/Oct people autoadmits or at least competitive? I'm a URM splitter so I expect to have to wait. I have gotten into UVA already though.

Complete 10/26, Interview 11/02. Decent stats and Vandy undergrad with honors and the like plus a HYP masters...still nothing. You're killing me Vandy!
And I don't have a cushy "fallback" like UVA to rely on either...the best I've got so far is Tennessee. All the others are icing me for now...

Re: Vanderbilt 2013
Didn't meant to sound snobby with my UVA comment. At the beginning of the cycle when I sent out apps (10/23) I figured that aside from my ED and safeties, the rest of the schools would take forever to decide bc I'm a URM splitter. I was surprised that UVA admitted me so quickly and thought maybe a few other schools might do the same. But no, my initial instinct was correct - I'm going to have to wait awhile.

I love the Obiter Dictum. It's pretty funny and even lets you know which bars are good for finding cougars.

Got the big box today!! very excited. Go DORES! still reading through all these booklets they packed in. very useful stuff. Any 2Ls who worked on the OD, fantastic work and this has really been impressive. You all have made a strong case for Vanderbilt Law.

Someone needs to brush up on their sports teams. I'm pretty sure your Vandy classmates would be quite angry if they heard you rooting for the Vols.Acedeuce wrote:Got the big box today!! very excited. WOW!, I totally blew that.... in retrospect go DORES!!... boo vols?
I think it came from all the talk about VULS... poor excuse.
why you shouldn't post on TLS after working 8 hours and then reading through the box...
Carry on with mocking me.

Congrats, I was very excited also when I saw my hugh freaking box. And I agree that the OD book is very nice. It sits by my computer and I pop it open and reread it from time to time. Now, if I can just motivate myself to fill out the Law scholars awards application.

Partly out of laziness/procrastination, but partly cause I feel like it'd futile for me to even write those 6 (or whatever #) paragraphs...
Anyone know anything about who actually GETS those scholarships? Is it people with crazy numbers, or do they look at more (and if so, is it stuff like curing cancer)? Or how many they give away each year?

I can't help but feel my best bet is a WL now. I think I might start going gloom and doom on this. More than 9 weeks waiting (12 for JordynAsh) cannot mean they plan on accepting us outright.

I've been waiting 10 weeks and I agree with this sentiment. I rocked the interview toowired wrote:I can't help but feel my best bet is a WL now. I think I might start going gloom and doom on this. More than 9 weeks waiting (12 for JordynAsh) cannot mean they plan on accepting us outright.

I emailed the admissions office this morning to ask about that 8 week turnaround policy. I explained I have been complete for freaking EVAR! and that I interviewed over a month ago. I got a response denying they have such a policy and that they review apps in the order they are received. LIES!!SilverE2 wrote:I've been waiting 10 weeks and I agree with this sentiment. Re: Vanderbilt 2013
I'm not sure where the 8 week turnaround policy came from, but from the interviews on the TLS profile, it sounds like they are very cautious with early acceptances. I was complete 10/16, interviewed 10/23 and now suspect I am buried somewhere in the middle of their pyramid review scheme. They might review them in the order in which they are recieved, but if they aren't completly wowed by you, off you go to the "let's wait and see" pile. Oh well, the waiting purgatory is still better than an outright rejection.JordynAsh wrote:I emailed the admissions office this morning to ask about that 8 week turnaround policy.
