Congrats to the newest admits!
And the admitted student's site is still unavailable after about a month and a half from the first admits.

I'm 167/3.8. Also got the scholarship consideration, though I'm not sure how serious that is. We'll wait and see!

I know what you mean.. Maybe it's just a way for them to accept us and have us wait in earnest only to give us nothing when the cycle is over..ccs224 wrote:I'm 167/3.8. Also got the scholarship consideration, though I'm not sure how serious that is. We'll wait and see!

Re: For WUSTL Applicants
Anyone know WUSTL's median private sector salary? I'm a little concerned that they appear to be hiding this figure on their main website. They only show their 25th and 75th percentile salary figures. I want to know the median!

Thanks Helm. I'm assuming those numbers are a little higher in 2008/9, good info.Helmholtz wrote:Starting Salaries of 2007 Graduates Employed Full-timeHopefullawstudent wrote:Anyone know WUSTL's median private sector salary? helm can you tell me if this is a legitimate way to interpret these numbers?Helmholtz wrote:Starting Salaries of 2007 Graduates Employed Full-timeHopefullawstudent wrote:Anyone know WUSTL's median private sector salary? private sector includes those employed by firms (62% of WUSTL 2007 grads) and those employed by other "business" entities (9%) for a total of 71% of their graduating class. of the 71% of the graduating class that landed jobs in the private sector, the salary data only accounts for 85% of them (71 x .85 = 60.35). so this salary data accounts for only 60.45% of their graduating class. since 75% of that 60.45% of the class makes at least 85k or more, (60.45 x .75) I calculated that 45% of the entire class makes 85k or more. I took the percentage of the class getting a federal clerkship (5%), which is probably just as hard if not harder to attain than jobs paying a higher end salary, and add that to 45%, and estimate that someone in this class probably needed to rank in the 50th percentile to land a job paying 85k/yr.
is this reasonable?

Re: For WUSTL Applicants
Well, it's not like those entering the government/public interest/academia sectors were those unable to attain well-paying job in the private sector, and these numbers do fluctuate from time to time so the median salary for somebody from the c/o 2007 is going to look different than the median salary for somebody from the c/o 2013. The WUSTL website says that the class of 2008 salaries (25th—75% percentile) was $55,750—$160,000, but that also seems to encompass every single grad reporting salary, including PI workers. In general, you seem to be thinking about it in the right way, but your numbers could be off by who knows how much.najumobi wrote:helm can you tell me if this is a legitimate way to interpret these numbers?Helmholtz wrote:Starting Salaries of 2007 Graduates Employed Full-timeHopefullawstudent wrote:Anyone know WUSTL's median private sector salary? Does anyone happen to know anything about when we might start hearing back about scholarships?

Do admits get anything in the mail? Or, is it just the email for now?

according to a thread started during last year's cycle, "WashU Scholarship Information," March 11, 2009 was when scholarship notifications were sent out, via email.starrynight62 wrote:Does anyone happen to know anything about when we might start hearing back about scholarships?

i think i remember reading that those admitted last year got a jump drive with admitted students info in the mail. also, it looks like an admitted students site is supposed to become available, though i don't know when this will happen....Hopefullawstudent wrote:Do admits get anything in the mail? Ooo a jump drive! Sweet. That just might seal the deal. That, or a 10K renewable scholarship.....najumobi wrote:i think i remember reading that those admitted last year got a jump drive with admitted students info in the mail. also, it looks like an admitted students site is supposed to become available, though i don't know when this will happen....Hopefullawstudent wrote:Do admits get anything in the mail? Re: For WUSTL Applicants
How is that different from every other law school? Most of us never touched paper after we turned in our LSAT until we got our acceptances (or rejections). How is it possibly impressive that they are going paperless like very one else? Are they trying to impress the internal WUSTL community that doesn't know any better?Hopefullawstudent wrote:Ooo a jump drive! Sweet. That just might seal the deal. Re: For WUSTL Applicants
So far, most of the other schools I've applied to have done paper - Georgetown, Duke, Vanderbilt, NYU, Emory, etc. Except for Duke, the other schools only notified by paper letters.
This is really different from a lot of other Top20 schools. I found it nice not having to wait and eagerly check the mail every few days for a WUSTL decision.

Re: For WUSTL Applicants
I guess the focus is on the outgoing correspondence? Even though the bulk of the article is on the paperless application, which was what irked me. The flash drive part of it is neat.
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
