Congrats! Via the admitted students site, or what? Also, RD or ED?

Yeah, via admitted students site. Looks like the "offer package" was mailed yesterday (11/10) but I hadn't checked the admitted students site since Monday. I'm RD, stats in profile (though they are very slightly off).

I'm late to this party but my application was submitted a while ago. Crackberry... way to go. I'm jealous. Did you apply regular or early decision?

Regular decision. I'm not the first accepted. A bunch of people have already been admitted, all of whom, I believe, have been regular decision.

Congrats to those of you who have already been accepted! Just sent in my app tonight and hoping there's a spot in Ann Arbor for me too. :)

Congrats man. Are you going to consider UM?

I am actually A LOT more thrilled than I thought I'd be with a UM acceptance. Not only that, but I'm starting to think UM might be one of my top choices (behind Berkeley, of course).

Yeah absolutely. UM has grown on me a lot the last few months. I think for me, it's fifth behind YHSB, which realistically means it's #2 behind Berkeley.

Could you guys explain why Berkeley over UMich, and what about Chicago vs UMich?

I did my own research, and all of these schools are kind of in the same league give or take a little here and there. Just wanted to hear some opinions.

For me, location is a HUGE factor. I really think that I will love the Bay Area, for one. Everything from the people to all of the different things you can do around there - I really love California. Also, weather is a big factor to me and obviously Berkeley weather > Michigan weather.

Also, UCB has one of the best LRAP programs, in case I want to go into PI.

I haven't fully evaluated and researched the overall employment prospects from both schools, but I would assume that Berkeley's are not that much superior to UM's.

UM's LRAP is no slouch either. You pay 35% of your salary above 36,000, if memory serves.

Not sure what Berkeley's looks like, except that they recently un-capped (de-capped? circumcised?) it. That's a good thing.

Wow, that'e better than I thought for UM.

Berkeley allows you to make up to 58K, second to only Yale (at 60K).

Yeah I agree about location. I went to Stanford UG and I love the Bay Area, so Berkeley is my top non-YHS school. I also want to do PI work so LRAP is very important to me, and Berkeley's LRAP is fantastic.

As for Chicago vs. Michigan, I haven't really decided yet. That would be a tough call (I grew up in NYC and don't want to go to law school there, so I think I'd pick Michigan over Columbia or NYU, though NYU could put up a fight given its strong PI programs). The reality is, if I'm in a situation where it comes down to NYU vs. Chicago vs. Michigan (unlikely), I'm going to have to visit all the schools and consider things very carefully before making a decision.

This thread makes me nervous because I submitted really early.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?
