All I got was a small envelope saying "once again, we'd like to congratulate you..." with about two pages of text talking about seat deposits, ASW etc. I was thrown off by the "once again" since that was the first news I'd received of acceptance, and it wasn't the packet that I was expecting. Anyone know what I'm talking about?lsa16 wrote:Just a packet of pretty UVA Law infoayylmao wrote:What's the merchandise you get?potterotter wrote:Has anyone that was admitted gotten the physical mail from UVA with the admission letter and merchandise?

I got what you're talking about but it was a week or so after receiving the standard packet. Sounds like your packet might have been lost in the mailing process.CenterFringe wrote:All I got was a small envelope saying "once again, we'd like to congratulate you..." with about two pages of text talking about seat deposits, ASW etc. I was thrown off by the "once again" since that was the first news I'd received of acceptance, and it wasn't the packet that I was expecting. I interviewed with Grace last Thursday (10/13). It went well, I sent a thank-you note, and have not heard a thing back from either her or via status checker. Is this a terrible sign? Should I email her again? Thanks!

I don't think it's a bad sign! Getting an interview at all is a very good sign, and there may just be other apps in the review queue before you. I'd probably hold off on emailing her again, though- sending a thank-you note should be enough, and you don't want to come across as neurotic. Hopefully you'll hear something soon.

Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
So I interviewed on Sept. 9th and have yet to hear anything back....how terrible of a sign is that? I felt the interview went fairly well, but apparently not...? Above 75th for GPA and between 25th and 50th for LSAT (admittedly closer to 25th than 50th). Do you think this is a sign I will be waitlisted? I got very hopefuly after hearing back so quickly about an interview. Any insight welcome!

You haven't heard anything after 2 working days and you want to send another e-mail? That's the definition of neurotic! Why would she respond to your thank you note (thank you for your thank you?) How do you see another e-mail playing out? If they accepted you, they would have posted it. If they denied you, they would have posted it. If they want to hold on to your app to see how it compares to other people, then trying to rush them isn't going to help.juneandlune wrote:I interviewed with Grace last Thursday (10/13). You're asking for validation to do something you know won't help your application, for no other reason than it makes you feel better than doing nothing. Accept that you've done everything you can, and the results will be what they will be.

What kind of questions were you asked and how was the interview in general? Got mine tomorrow with Grace.juneandlune wrote:Thanks for the advice, y'all! Their ears must have been ringing, because just got notified that I was accepted

Grace is extremely friendly and offered a relaxed interview. Make sure you can talk through some points on your resume, answer the Why Law/ Why UVA questions, and give a little elevator pitch about yourself. Check out earlier posts in this thread for more potential questions.TAD wrote:What kind of questions were you asked and how was the interview in general? Yeah, think that's probably right - I found out via status checker on the 7th, the big packet came last week, and I just got the little envelope reiterating stuff about seat deposits today. Keep hoping for scholarship information every time there is a piece of mail but nothing yetCenterFringe wrote:Ha, that's the story of my life right there.PDX4343 wrote: I got what you're talking about but it was a week or so after receiving the standard packet. It finally came in today. I live in Hawaii, so I'm guessing the big packet took an extra week or so to make it here, while the little envelope jetted (literally) right over.lsa16 wrote:Yeah, think that's probably right - I found out via status checker on the 7th, the big packet came last week, and I just got the little envelope reiterating stuff about seat deposits today. Re: UVA c/o 2020 Applicants (2016-2017)
My interview was hella short, compared to what I've read from other people on here (i.e. like 15 mins and even that's pushing it). Seemed alright tho. She asked my about my current and previous jobs, told me they interview those who they are seriously considering, said I got a lot of great options, so Why UVA and Why law, and asked me to shortly sum up what is great about me. Then she let me ask questions. Pree chills tho I guess lol.bellaboo wrote:

Congrats to everybody who got in
I'm feeling pretty nervous as it's been two weeks and I'm still under review with no interview.

+1 but over a month. URM if that means anything; I know our cycles can be weird.Assasindowntheavenue wrote:Welcome to the club.Thelaw23 wrote:Congrats to everybody who got in

Very general question but, how does it appear (high LSAT-low GPA) splitters are faring this cycle?

Thank you! Hoping it's a sign of things to come for splitter-folk this cycle. Probably too early to say if it'll be a good year for us or not yet, though.Assasindowntheavenue wrote:Damn good on you. We splitters will take over the world.
I say we all make partner and take in only law school grads who had splitter credentials.
