"Labor Day Holiday" per the academic calendar = no classes, right? Always had classes on Labor Day during undergrad.

Sounds like you have to see a doctor. I haven't been to a doctor in years. Anyone gotten started on this?
I remember using my undergrad's records plus new shots I had to get. Contact admissions if you have any questions. They are always really helpful.

The academic calendar says that 1L orientation begins August 14 and upper level classes start on August 24, but there's no start date for the 1L class. Is that because we'll start up with everybody else on the 24, or because our classes start during the orientation period?

The first day of orientation (Friday) is the only true "orientation" day where you check in, get your professional picture taken, and have a welcome by the Dean. The next week you have legal writing for the majority of the day, with random sessions about finances, professional development, etc. peppered throughout. I believe one (or half of one) of those days is also Habitat for Humanity (I'd encourage everyone to participate in this because you get to interact with the people in your section in a more "informal" environment). Then your real class schedule will begin on 8/24.

I was able to find my orientation schedule from last year, in case you want to see what the first week looks like. I don't know if the C/O 2018 schedule will be the same, but I imagine it will be similar. http://newstudents.law.wfu.edu/files/20 ... hedule.pdf

Thanks for sharing! I'm getting more excited by the day. Do most people bring lunch with them, or buy something on campus?

My experience was that about half of my section brought their lunch, and the other half got food from somewhere on campus or nearby campus. I know a few people got meal plans for the dining halls and ate lunch there on most days. I'm not sure what the situation will be with the newly constructed first floor, but last year there were a couple of refrigerators available to students for their lunches.

Einstein Bagels is in the business school which is right across the street, and Starbucks is in the building behind the business school. The law school had a small shop where you could buy pre-packaged salads and sandwiches, but I am not sure if that will be the case next year with the new construction.

Your schedule might also allow you to just eat a snack mid-morning and go home for lunch after your classes are finished.

There was a prevalent sentiment at the different admitted students' days that I attended including at Wake that free food was always available. Pizza, snacks, etc.

Is this not true or is it just an exaggeration?

Edit: Free food meaning food provided at different organization meetings or refreshments, etc. Basically, the implication was that if you were paying for lunch during 1L, you weren't trying very hard or paying attention.

Mostly true. If you go to the events or info sessions there's usually lunch but don't count on it every single day.

Also, there will be a "cafe," but I'm not sure what kind of food they will sell we will just have to wait and see.

Starting out free food will always be around. Informational meetings for the clubs, events put on by the school, etc. It dies out as the semester/years go on. Beginning of 1L = all the papa johns you can eat. End of 3L = nope.

2014 grad if anyone has any questions.

Facebook group is so dead compared to last years.

Anyone on here want to split a U-Haul for a day with me and go shopping for furniture?
