Re: Georgetown c/o 2017 Applicants Thread (2013-2014)
Hey all, I have three questions which may have been asked before.
1. What should I wear to GULC group interview?
2. Is there anything I should be reviewing before/ should I bring my resume?
3. Has there been anyone who has not been admitted after an interview?

Application submitted for review this morning. Group interview invite this afternoon. Impressively fast turnaround. Interested in more info on this group interview process (who gets it, how long does it take to be offered admission after, if you get in, etc.)

1. Only one person at mine had a full suit. Nice business casual is very acceptable.BigLaw_Lit wrote:Hey all, I have three questions which may have been asked before.

2. You won't need anything at all.
3. I don't know honestly.

I would definitely bring a folio with a pad of paper and a pen. It came in handy.

Not in DC currently but in the same boat considering EDing this week!mango24 wrote:Thats how I felt. Plus I'm in DC now and I love the city.

I know the app said don't apply ED if financial aid is a concern.alexnapolchill wrote:Do anyone know any EDer got any money offer? Are EDers deprived of getting scholarship?

But does it just mean EDer will have no bargain power in getting scholarship, which does not necessarily mean EDer cannot be given scholarship?BmoreOrLess wrote:I know the app said don't apply ED if financial aid is a concern.alexnapolchill wrote:Do anyone know any EDer got any money offer? Depending on how the numbers shake out I'm sure you can always try the old "I cannot justify attending any school at sticker, so I'll just wait another year," so who knows.alexnapolchill wrote:But does it just mean EDer will have no bargain power in getting scholarship, which does not necessarily mean EDer cannot be given scholarship?BmoreOrLess wrote:I know the app said don't apply ED if financial aid is a concern.alexnapolchill wrote:Do anyone know any EDer got any money offer? I'm sure there is no rule saying you have to pay sticker, but why would they extend you a scholly? They can use that money to try and entice someone who will let them keep medians.alexnapolchill wrote:But does it just mean EDer will have no bargain power in getting scholarship, which does not necessarily mean EDer cannot be given scholarship?BmoreOrLess wrote:I know the app said don't apply ED if financial aid is a concern.alexnapolchill wrote:Do anyone know any EDer got any money offer? Also, I recommend business casual. A lot of people wear full suits, but if you're interviewing with Dean Cornblatt, it's not necessary. Not sure about alumni though.kraffcook wrote:There are plenty of people who are denied after an interview. There are no statistics about it, but I can tell you that whether or not you have an interview is far from a deciding factor. Georgetown tries to interview as many applicants as they reasonably can (which is always a higher number than the number of spots available). Getting invited to an interview is generally a good thing because it gives you a chance to add to your application file in a meaningful way. An interview can only help; it's your opportunity to give them a reason to admit you for who you are and not what's in your scores.Snowboarder1588 wrote:Congrats to all of you admits. I guess the question us (interview candidates) are trying to figure out is: do you know someone or are you someone who got denied even though you were invited to an interview?

Ya, they're definitely not going to give any ED'er a unsolicited scholarship, but I'm sure you can try and talk them into some money. It will all be a matter of how badly they need numbers, it won't matter whether they are losing people to other schools or to simply not attending.deputydog wrote:I'm sure there is no rule saying you have to pay sticker, but why would they extend you a scholly? I did slacks and a blazer without a tie for the Alumni, seemed perfectly fine. I can imagine it can vary depending on who you are interviewing with (mine was with a big law partner) and where you're interviewing, but I'd say crisp business casual is a good bet.kraffcook wrote:Also, I recommend business casual. I went complete 11/4, my status changed for the first time today. I would love to get an interview. Not sure if my status change was because of an addendum I sent in, but timeline wise it does make sense.

Submitted 11/3, first status update 11/11, second 11/12. No interview request yet. Should I be happy or worried its moving this quickly?
