Depends on a lot of other factors but you could always apply now and retake in June.

But you're almost certainly better off waiting until next cycle.

This is my first time saying this on any board (I am not a TLS Snob) but you really need to retake the LSAT. With your GPA below the 25% you need, at the very least, to have your LSAT above the median (preferably at or above 75%).

I wanted to contribute my two cents as unbiased as I can. Understand that I am a current 2L at UF with a job lined up in my home market.

My understanding of FSU's significant ranking jump: Talking with a faculty member today, I learned that FSU did some considerable manipulating of the numbers as far as amount of money spent per student. I didn't write down all the details, but the gist of it was FSU changed the way in which they financed a few programs making the amount of money spent per student increase by 5 times what it had previously been at without much actual improvements for students. And I don't fault FSU for doing this at all. UF surely manipulates the numbers as well. All schools do.

Employment numbers: This should be the number one consideration for 0Ls. That, and total COA. FSU has consistently had better employment numbers than UF in the past few years. Whether it is due to location in the state capital or a smaller class of students, doesn't really matter. Facts are facts. You have a better chance at getting a job coming out of FSU than you do at UF.

If I were choosing today with equal COA for both, I would choose FSU without hesitation.

Of course, this is just my opinion. In general, don't get caught up in the rankings. UF and FSU are peer schools. Crunch the numbers.

Not a problem, and I'm glad I could help.

I did well my first year and made law review. I was lucky enough to snag a job through OCI but not many of my friends at median were able to get interviews. Most people cannot rely on OCI and are left to do the job searching on their own.

I'm recommending FSU over UF because I realize I got lucky. I did well enough in the 1L lottery to give me a fighting chance at OCI. Going in, expect to be at median in your class and base your decision off of that. If you're not in the top quarter of your class, OCI will be a major uphill battle. I'd imagine that FSU's OCI is similar but their employment statistics will show that you have better odds at landing some kind of employment.

Very few, if any, of us have received scholarship info with the acceptance packet. That seems to come a few weeks after for most applicants. I am still waiting on it myself and I received my admit packet a few weeks ago.

I received a Scholly and I'm above the 75th for their LSAT below the medium for their GPA. But I'm URM, so that might have something to do with it. I'm a FL resident as well.

I think I am 1 point over LSAT 75th %, and GPA ~.05 above 75th %. But no scholarship info in the admissions packet today. So they must only give automatic scholarships to very high scores.

I haven't heard anything about scholarships from UF. I have a full-ride offer on the table at UIUC, a large scholarship offer at DU, and a small scholarship at UNC. Has UF sent out all of their scholly info? Time to negotiate?

Maybe I didn't follow the directions and send an Academic statement(I think that's what it's called.) I just sent a regular PS

This scholly situation is really frustrating. Barring a T-14 admit this is where I would like to be but I certainly won't attend without significant money. Not knowing whether or not I am headed here is driving me crazy.

A friend in law school now quoted the $90k. So unfortunate. I feel like with a lack of leadership at the school is putting FSU in the forefront in my decision...even though I haven't been accepted at UF yet. lol.

Wow. I take this as a mixed bag. I like the fact that they won't just hire ANYONE, but their top 3 candidates, from what the article had to say about them, come across as a bit underwhelming.

Yeah, that's about the only "plus" to this information is that they are willing to go out of the way to find the RIGHT person for the job. But UF did this recently with Bernie Machen...they enlisted a search committee and didn't find any candidates to take over as President of the University, so Bernie ended up staying in that position.

wtf UF. Yea it'll be t14 or FSU for me if UF is truly this disorganized. UF will have to offer more scholarship money than FSU if they want to win me over. Went to FSU undergrad and was looking forward to moving somewhere new...oh well.

I had my scholarship from FSU ages ago, I've been checking my mailbox every day since my Dec. 9 admission and I haven't heard anything about financial aid from the University of Florida. With UF appearing to be in disarray I might just say screw it and go with FSU.

Welcome! haha. It seems UF has been on a trend of meeting every three weeks and sending out decisions. 1/16, 2/3, 2/24...that leaves 3/17 as the next date. Hopefully that holds true as the deadline to apply is today, they should be moving gears a lot faster with decisions.

Thanks! I havent hear from any schools yet so I pulled the trigger on applying to UF. Everyone seems to be taking a long time so far
