Just admitted, logged onto the website but no additional information is available yet. How long did most people wait to hear scholarship information? I'm leaning pretty heavily toward another school now, but PIPS or a nice merit scholarship might change that.

I just received a waitlist email. I'm not going to stay on, given their employment numbers. Congrats to those who got in and good luck to everyone still waiting!

Waitlist. Didn't want to go there really anyways, so there's that. And thus, my cycle is complete!

Got the admit email, does the scholarship, if any, come in the actual mail?

I got a letter and an email with my merit scholarship info a couple weeks after acceptance. I also received an email over the weekend that I was not selected for PIPS. Needless to say, I will most likely be pulling my application this week.

Yeah, you know I would have been really excited to consider AU (in general) if their rolling admissions was actually rolling admissions. The whole process really turned me off, because it makes me wonder what the overall administration might be like if the admissions process is this frustrating. I don't usually post anything negative about any of the schools I've applied to, but it's very unlikely I'll be seriously considering AU at this point. If I get into the PIPS program I'll still give it serious thought and maybe even visit, but if I'm eliminated from PIPS I won't exactly be all broken up. It's a shame really, because they could probably get a lot more applicants to seriously consider attending if they just tightened up their process and were more considerate of applicants - I was pretty excited when I applied, but the process has been like watching molasses run onto everyone else's pancakes while mine got cold, and then being told (rudely) that I should be grateful for the opportunity to watch the others eat while I wait. I hope they look back at this year and realize that whatever system they had in place for this cycle was a failed experiment.Wbrem wrote:I got a letter and an email with my merit scholarship info a couple weeks after acceptance. If you receive a merit based scholarship is it listed in your financial aid award letter? 'Cause I got nothin'. Debating whether I should bother to wait for my PIPS app to be rejected...

Part-time 2L at WCL here to take your questions. By way of background, I work full time during the day, and I am on the Law Review and Moot Court.

For those working full-time and attending part-time does the subject of managing the commute come up much among students? Given class start time still falls in the regions rush hour are there some areas where people seem to have better or worse luck than other in making it to campus/class on time? Also is nearby parking available for evening students?z0rk wrote:Part-time 2L at WCL here to take your questions. I work for a federal agency downtown by union station, and I always make it to class on time when I leave at 5:00pm. Occasionally, the metro might break down and create an issue, but its not often. I am also a big proponent of car2go (http://www.car2go.com), and I will use it to get to class if I have last minute emergency (not often).haus wrote:For those working full-time and attending part-time does the subject of managing the commute come up much among students? As for parking, its my understanding that evening students can park in the garage. I don't own a car so I cannot confirm.
I will say this, having the ability to work for an agency as a paralegal while being in school has paid tremendous dividends as a student. It really does open my eyes to the law, and reinforces what I learn. Further, it has helped me build solid relationships with practicing attorneys in DC. That was a major selling point of attending law school in the region, and I am finding that our alumni base is well established in firms and agencies which is a nice bonus. Do you already live and work in DC? or are you thinking of moving and finding a job? PM me and we can talk more specifics if you don't want to throw all that information up here for folks to see.

Yeah, I still haven't received anything. I'm going to give it a few more days to see about PIPS but I'll likely withdraw next week.Smer45 wrote:Mine came in a separate merit scholarship e-mail a couple hours after the fa award letterPattyCake wrote:If you receive a merit based scholarship is it listed in your financial aid award letter?
