For anyone interested, Richmond doesn't seem to negotiate scholarships. I sent an email to the generic law admissions address yesterday asking to whom I should address a question about additional merit aid and got a call from one of the deans last night. Was basically told they don't have extra funds right now.

You are definitely right, they don't negotiate. They want students who want to be there because they want to go to Richmond, not because they got a lot of Scholarship money. Richmond does things VERY differently, its one of the things that appealed to me over schools that would have cost less!

I really like the school and I'd like to go there. It's just really hard when they give you nothing

In the end it all comes down to employment numbers. I honestly don't understand how they fill their class when other higher ranked schools, who place better job-wise, dish out larger scholarships.

Example, Richmond accepted me w/o a scholly initially while Wake gave me 20k.

Richmond only recently sent me the $12k.

For a school that doesn't place well into large firms, I couldn't see myself attending without a large scholarship offer.

When did they send the scholarship offer? After a deposit deadline? If there's hope, I might go place my deposit

I never placed a deposit.

If you go back a page in this forum you will see about 5/6 posts from members who received the same scholarship offer.

I do remember reading that.

Was the 12k offered in the original financial aid letter though? Or only after people withdrew? I know UR isn't rolling in money.

My financial aid letter came wayyy before this scholarship update.

The scholarship updates seemed to have come after a lot of withdrawals.

Richmond gave me more than Wake did ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ although having followed this thread for a while it seems that offers akin to the one I got from Richmond were quite few and far between.

Sent in my deposit yesterday, will be attending this fall.

I think another thing to consider in terms of employment is UofR's high clerkship placement rate (one of, if not the highest in the country) and what that means for future job opportunities.

Also an interesting fact that they shared with us at ASD was that there are currently more UofR grads serving as judges (I am assuming this excludes federal courts) in Virginia than any other school.

None. In my letter it said that they would re-evaluate the wait list beginning yesterday. I called this morning and they told me that they were going to start looking at the wait list next week. In my opinion, that means that they are trying to up scholarship offers or entice people that maybe just "missed" the deposit deadline instead of formally withdrawing.

Not unless you deposited somewhere else. They have no reason to give you more money.

Offer increased from 12k to 20k a year.

Wish I knew this earlier so I could of at least visited the school...
